Had my bank account verified by Coinbase and just made my first purchase of ETH. 🙂

Nice one!

Interested in this. No clue about it though.

Just seems like its so easy? Sign up invest an amount watch it go up or down. Make a profit then withdraw?

Obviously more goes into it than that though.

How long before you got rid of the error message about the bank declining payment?

I never got round the card issue. When you go to verify payment method add your UK bank account. It will then ask you to send €10 to you Coinbase euro account. Took 24hours but now all verified. I can now send more money via online banking to my Euro wallet and then buy ETH

Just setting up bank transfer now. Giving up on them fixing cards.

Frigging £9.50 fee for Halifax though.

Was it an EU transaction, as Tesco advised me there's a £10 charge in the EU or £20 outside of it, cheers

How how long does it take between transfers?

I transfered the 10euros yesterday and got an email first thing this morning to say it was in my EU wallet on Coinbase.

Then went on and in 2 secs had purchased 8euros worth of ETH which appeared in my ETH wallet immediately.

I am just transferring over a larger sum now in the same way from my NatWest account. They charge £10.

Much better :)

I have just been verified by cryptomate.co.uk. Having a play on that to see if it is any good. I've tried to place an order for £200 worth of ETH, but it is trying to find a vendor to accept my order. Seems a bit long winded compared to coinbase

I've also been messing about on plus500 site. You purchase a CFD, which is basically gambling on whether the price goes up in down in 1 day. See attached. You can have a good play on it with little money in.

Are you storing yours in the relevant site wallets or moving it off the sites?

I am storing mine on Coinbase for now. (all of 0.046 ETH so far!!)

I haven't considered moving it else where? Whats your thoughts?

Depends if Coinbase decide to stabilise a little. Some of there code is terrible by the looks of it - I need to re-verify my bank again now because I have no EUR or GBP, only ETH in my account. Stupid.

I've never really experimented with moving stuff into a local PC held wallet, I will at some point but right now it's all new to me!

Have you been verified on there also now then? I submitted my docs yesterday but it's just sitting as pending. I've also tried a few times to invest £100 on there as that's the limted for unverfied, but it gives a 15 minute countdown to find a vendor, and never finds one!

Also just sent off the initial amount to coinbase :)

Edit... just checked and now verified on Cryptomate

Any 'how to' guides for complete novices?

Here's mine: Don't do it, :-)

Not very helpful perhaps, but currency speculation - especially into crytocurrencies - is both complex and a huge gamble. Personally, I'd start with much lower risk investments initially if you're looking to invest outside of cash, which is sensible in itself.

My second point of wisdom runs thus: be generally wary of anything where people are making big returns easily. It won't last, don't be the one caught out.

BitPanda is my fav. Verification is really cool and easy, and a nice easy site to use. https://www.bitpanda.com

My wallet is done via My Ether Wallet. https://www.myetherwallet.com

I bought £3,500 few months back, soon as I doubled my investment I sold £3,500 to get my money back. Whatever happens now is a bonus! Few holidays are paid for already (in theory).

Oh and another thing, keep EVERYTHING to do with your trading. Emails etc....

A solicitor friend tells me that if you try to use the proceeds towards house purchase etc.... it may get flagged for money laundering regulations. The more evidence you have of your trading the better.

So once purchased, would you always recommend moving to a different wallet?

Just to see how it worked, only did £200. I am impatient :)

I am waiting for the larger deposit I made earlier to arrive in my EUR wallet on Coinbase.

Same, I don't know why Coinbase says I need to re-verify my bank but I just sent across a larger payment as verification as I was happy the first one worked. Hope it's as quick as the first one was this morning.

Going to have to do more thinking on this as the Natwest charges are exorbitant for international transfers.

Hmmmm.

Pretty sure it says Coinbase don't accept transfers from Natwest

I don't know how you all cope with that waiting time between "send" from bank and "received" from Coinbase. Feels like forever.

Sorry for another question, but when you transferred the larger amount into Coinbase, did you put the same reference number as the verification transaction? Or a different one?

It was asking me to verify again, so I put the same one. My payment has left my bank but not arrived at CoinBase yet.

Whats the most secure way to store ether?

I have an online wallet but I understand that this isn't really secure.
