+2 gained, well that was unexpected!

Before you get your hopes up again, remember the next one though. Lads, it’s Tottenham  :(

We're doomed even though we are playing the Spurs at home.

Lads, it was Tottenham.

Next though: Brentford. Took a proper beating from them in January. Cue for some doom music  :-\

Ha, we do don’t we. Was looking at the OP instead of schedule.

Well, there’s no way we win that either.  :wave

I can't see us winning against Brentford. Too many weaknesses for them to exploit.

Arsenal 3 points ahead of City? I don't think that's mathematically possible. If they both win their remaining games, City would finish four points ahead, and I don't think there could be a seven-point swing in APLT over four games without Arsenal dropping points.

Yeah that seems wrong.  City have two par-1 fixtures left and Arsenal none, suggesting they would nick the title by a point if they both won out.

Also our position still looks terrible there, Utd’s sudden dip looks really minimal.

Thanks for the updates Prof! Just like I felt in Jan, you gotta live in hope :)

Unsure if the table is accurate though. For eg Arsenal cannot finish with more than 90 points, but are on track for 93 as per the graph above.

Hoping we're higher up too (-21 feels bleak :( )

Arsenal’s line isn’t showing the dropped points for their draws at Anfield and West Ham, but even so that’s just one point for each, taking them down to a maximum of 91, so the line would still be wrong somewhere.

Leicester next. Our poor away form and their ability to counterattack means they'll score goals. If they stick 10 men behind the ball they could grind a result out. I think a shock is on the cards.

I've not really followed this thread this season - I didn't need further reminding that we've not been very good! - but it's telling that we've not been within 3 APLT points of the top four since game week 10.  We've also not been in the APLT top four at any point during the season.

I was hoping to find a secret insight that we're actually on course for top four but APLT confirms we're still very much outsiders.

The decline of Spurs post-Conte is really dramatic.  The rot had arguably set in under Conte but they have hit freefall since he left.

Yes. it's wrong.

The Arsenal error in the graph goes back to the 3 game sequence earlier in the year when they dropped 8 points in 3 games  to Everton, Brentford and City.  As all were Par 3 games for APLT it was a -8 fall for APLT.
However the graph only  shows a -5 fall from +7 to +2  when it should have been +7 to -1.

If the Chelsea form had kicked in two weeks earlier, there’s a good chance they might have been relegated

Oof. Going to be close between us and Newcastle. If there were 5 games to go I'd really fancy us.

Would be great to finally hit that 71 point line this season and nick 4th

It would be nice indeed, but Villa are a pretty good side and a bogey team for us. We will drop points at home, I'm certain.

To be honest, having done this for 12 seasons, I'm feeling a bit spent now and not sure I have the inclination to do this for the new season.  Possibly the nature of last year plus my own personal life circumstances have meant I was slow doing a lot of updates and the general feeling I got was this isn't followed as much now compared to a few seasons ago.

Prof - The APLT thread was the main reason that I chose to join and contribute to this forum, so if this does turn out to be the final version of the APLT then I'm sure that I am among many that will be very sad to see it come to an end. But I can certainly understand your reasons for stopping, and in fact my own personal life and general negative tone on the forum have also lead to me posting much less often as well. So thanks for all you've done, and we'll always be able to look back at the incredible 2019/20 season thread if we want to be able to remember the better times!

Thank you for all you've done on this - it remains a very useful and revealing way to look at the table.

If you want to pass it over to someone else (even if it's just for a year) then I'm willing to update and maintain it if you send me the spreadsheet. PM me?
