Doesn't matter.

Money talks. Just look at the Newcastle takeover and all the shit that the government must have let pass to let that one through. Defence contract with a British arms company? Free pass.

Of course it should have implications, but deep down, I suspect that you know that they'll kick the can so far down the road that it minimises the impact of any meaningful punishment whatsoever. 100 charges or thereabouts seems massive on the face of it but I would bet last dirham that they get off with no more than a minor to middling slap on the wrist. Get out of jail card for 'levelling up' the local community, international relations, etc, etc.

Opinions eh?

I am sorry but that is just nonsense. They are currently facing a 101 charges if they are found guilty they will getting more than a slap on the wrist.

Well, the scenario you are suggesting might well happen, but that would mean the PL losing any leverage against the European Super League ...

Man City believe a former member of the playing or coaching staff turned informer for the Premier League’s investigation.

The club is currently carrying out internal investigations to find the identity of the individual.

If you're to pay any heed to that article, then the stripping of titles is unlikely.
So they're likely to be found guilty of cheating, but allowed to keep the titles they cheated to win  ;D

They are now using the race card:

"Can’t wait for the next “special” Premier League game involving City that is selected to have the pre match taking of the knee against racism. Doubt many will spot the irony."

That's because it isn't about race. It's about cheating.

At the moment, but as you know its early days in this investigation so much can yet change. There is a lot of anger at the other clubs now they will only increase when more stuff becomes known.

Anyone know how long this commission will take to conclude? I suppose City will try and drag it out as long as possible and appeal anything against them.

It does feel like a rubicon moment for the league though, but maybe a little too late. They could have just fined City and swept this away quietly, but over the long term the competitiveness of the league and ultimately its appeal as a product would diminish. City winning 8 out of 10 league titles is damaging in the long run and will only result in more clubs overextending themselves leading to a huge crisis when the bubble bursts. The effects of cheating extend far beyond club loyalties and wanting titles in retrospect. It could save clubs from going bust and lead to more responsible ownership within the rules of the league.

Well, if Sky Sports want to keep their golden goose and prevent the ESL, defending Man City is the last thing they should do ...

They'll want this to go away and they'll do their best to minimise its significance.  Don't expect any interviews with any hard core critics of Abu Dhabi.  Ultimately they can't have any impact on the case but the last thing they'll want is the  consumers to realise the emperor has no clothes .

So they’re briefing that they’re hunting for a whistleblower?

Also if they’re briefing that someone has quit and turned informant that’s them briefing that it’s…. True?

Not quite sure they’ve thought this through.

Makes me wonder if political pressure will be applied in favour of sweeping it under the carpet. After all, this country's been up for sale to the Middle East and Russia for a long time, it won't be a good look if Abu Dhabi encounter resistance to their sportswashing project after we've already cooked our goose with Russia. Still, this country's already been stripped almost bare, not sure there's much left anyway
