What sort of deal did you manage to get ?

Thinking of this myself seen online for £1250 from Currys ?

Slightly more than that for the TV plus stand, but that includes a 5-year guarantee and two visits from their techy lot.

It was originally due for installation today, but on Saturday the shopowner died (not unexpectedly) and seeing as I've been dealing with his son, I've resisted the temptation to call him and fix another day. I'll wait til Wednesday perhaps.

It's awesome.

The one in the pics is the PX600,I have the PX60 which is cheaper but has the exactly same screen and picture quality.

It's without doubt the best 42" flatscreen out there for the money and I'm talking around £1300 now if you shop around. You would have to spend £2000+ to get a screen from another manufacturer as good as this one.

The PX600 has better audio, but that's only relevant if you actually use the TV speakers,I don't.

The PX600 has an SD card slot on the front which you can use to view photos, video and I think you can record to it as well.

The PX600 has Picture in Picture as well.

To me,none are worth the extra dollars as the screen is identical. The styling is slightly different as well as the PX600 has a larger black border round the screen, and again to me,not worth the extra outlay.

If it's the picture quality you want, get the PX60 and a Panasonic SCHT855 home cinema with the money you save.

Hmm, If I get one, I will probably get those speakers pictured on stands, or some other contraption. I am no means an 'audiophile' though

I am disappointed that a tv has a card reader :p

Not sure if this should be in here. For all of those with HDTV, Sky Sports HD and a good surround system connected... what is the 5.1 sound like for footy? Are you impressed by it? Did you notice any difference? Can you turn the commentry off?

Thanks for any feedabck.

Either of the 2 products at the bottom.I think the one at the bottom comes with a bag to put the stuff in to keep them clean.

It's very very good.

It's slightly better as the crowd noise comes from the correct side but no,you can't turn the commentary off.

I'll give that one a go then. Thanks for that. I presume I should be able to use the same cleaning product on my monitor and maybe even my psp.

Got Sky fitting the HD box tomorrow so looking forward to seeing how the picture looks then.  :D

Either way, from Tuesday morning I plan to be bedridden from the nose down.

How is your purchase going Keith? Obviously there are lots of great things, but anything that you don't like about it? I know you did your homework again so does it hold up against you expectations? Would you make the same decision again?

the only thing that bothers me is that I hear people are picking it up now for around £1100 with a 5 year warranty whereas I paid nearly £1500.Saying that, when I paid £1500,there were people only a couple of months previous paying around £1800,so it's all swings and roundabouts.

Other than that I'm very pleased with it and it more than meets the expectations I had.The next step is to get it ISF calibrated so it's set up as perfect as is possible but I'll wait till I have put my boot in the HD DVD camp, probably early next year now.

I would still buy this TV over the better performing Pioneer just becasue of the price gap, currently around £600 if you shop around for both, which will buy you a very good amp and surround speaker package and probably a decent DVD player as well. The pioneers, although better, are not £600 better to be honest.

Apparently so. I've seen them used in a workshop whilst browsing one of those HDTV made simple mags. They had one on an LCD. Of course, when you think about it, the principle is the same, and they had a PC connected to the tv and used it.
However, my concern is whether as PC Monitor would have different set up to a tv - then again,, you would watch DVD's on a laptop, so maybe not.

|Yeah, if they had a PC connected to it then the PC would hold the profile, so it would stop working when you disconnect the PC. Unless you can somehow store it in some kind of memory in the TV.... I've no idea.
