I just wish Rafa had gone and gotten him around 2005 for the £4 million Atlético paid for him back then. One smart player. Loved him to bits.

I always tend to think of Luis Garcia, Yossi Benayoun, and Maxi Rodriguez as being part of the same lineage - sort of fulfilling the same/similar role for us.

A sweet strike from Maxi earlier tonight (still going strong at 40 for Newell's Old Boys):-

I was gutted back then when Kenny decided to replace him with Downing.

Glad that he's still doing well.

That's an exclamatory phrase I've not heard before...!  Might have to start using that.

Yes! Me too, I remember jumping out of my seat when he scored, I can't recall ever doing that for a non-Liverpool goal. Amazing goal.

Retires at 40.

A proper legend at Newell's and in La Liga. Argentina too. Shame we couldn't get more football out of him but he was well admired here and a good lad. Loved the hat-trick at Fulham on the Monday night.

Great commentary too
Loving Everton's business this summer. Here's an early call - they finish above Liverpool this season.

That Monday night was epic. :D
Would sacrifice Fordy in a sacred Mayan ritual to have him as the next Liverpool manager

He made a mistake picking 11 for his shirt number.

Now I know why Trent picked 66.

When the Maxi song was going off, i just remember singing and the Fulham fans looks of admiration almost wanting to trade places with our away end.

Maxi was a great.

We can probably add Jota to that list now.
