Be pleasantly surprised if he plays again this season to be honest.
I've just wiped the sticky residue from my bellend onto the television screen. Taste it Leo. You deserve it.
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

Football clubs generally rush all players back from injury to get them playing in again, especially with muscle tears and the general feeling with sports physios is that we've been trying to get him back playing before the problem has fully resolved.  If he's back in February it just means the club are serious about trying to resolve his injury problems and giving him ample time to recover and strengthen. Try not to panic!

I wouldn't start to get annoyed until someone more reliable mentions it though, not really sure Jason Burt would know before James Pearce or Tony Barrett...

I wondered why Burt - but it's been repeated in a few other interview pieces so he must have been talking to selected journos. Hopefully it's a worst case assessment at the moment and a more hopeful picture will emerge soon.

That said, I'd assume the Origi simply has to be nailed on for jan 1st now.

Lille aren't great and do waste him a bit, but 2 goals from open play in 20 league games, is he what we need right now? Especially with the immense pressure

We need to do something in January and there probably isnt much money available unless we sell Borini, so getting Origi back is something we can afford to do

RE Sturridge ... IF it's true then (a) he wasn't predicted to back much before then anyway and (b) maybe the club have learned this time to not rush him back

Rodgers confirming Sturridge will be back just after the Xmas fixtures.

Not February as this thread reported!

Neither of them please. They're decent footballers but they wouldnt get a sniff of game at any other top 4 side, sick of going for these nearly men that look great for a few months in mid table sides with a team built round them, but will no doubt come to us for a massive fucking premium and fail miserably. Not to mention both are big target men that strengths are in the air, not really what we want to be looking at.

hes back training the last week or two, I think I seen on twitter that he hopes to be back playing around the same time as sturridge so probably early to mid January til he's match ready.
Having Welbeck try and mark Pirlo is ridiculous. It's like trying to get a golden retriever to stop a tennis ball machine.Because one is a machine designed for a very specific purpose that it is peerless at, and the other is a fucking dog.

If you rule out January then thats another 4 league games, 2 matches in the Capitol One Cup and an FA Cup round (or 2) that he would miss. Maybe West Ham on the 31st Jan is a possibility.

Think he is coming back too late to make a difference as I still am not confident of us beating Leicester, Sunderland and Villa.

Will take Sturridge a few weeks to get up to speed so effectively we'll have the real Sturridge back by February, with no guarantee that he won't break down again. . Would be amazed if we don't get a striker in the window.

Sorry I realise that this is more of a news-only thread, so feel free to delete, but if he's back in late January, that's 5 months without playing a game. Even for a guy who normally starts scoring straight after minor injuries, it would be naive to think he's going to be on form immediately. No way we should make anything worse by heaping pressure on him either.

He isn't some 19 year old in his first season we are talking about.

This is England's number 1 striker (when fit), coming off a 20+ goal season.  First Liverpool since Ray Kennedy to score
3 in his first 3 games,  first Liverpool player in the Premier League era to score in seven consecutive league games.

The lad is a proven goal scorer, there's no pressure just pure belief in his ability.

I do think his match sharpness needs to be built up slowly rather than throwing him straight in.
If there were evidence to support playing full games straight from injury makes no difference to full recovery, then sure, throw him in.
