The only capacity I could see him in here would be something similar to what Robbie and McManaman was doing (is still doing?), part time giving the youth players some advice.

Someone new coming in can sometimes give a team a little 'blip' of form, I guess they felt like they wanted a little push at the end of the season.

Pop into Melwood any time Sami (with Brendan's permission!), I'm sure someone may want to pick your brain.

Mancienne is my bet

How's he been doing over there? Has been playing at centre half? If so it's entirely possible that Brendan was running the rule over one of his former players. As I said at the time, nothing but respect for his decision to move abroad to develop his game, too few English players take this option.

Our current coaching staff has us top of the league.

and next season we will be looking to add to our playing staff to make us better even if we win the league.....why not the coaching staff as well?

Im not sure he will want to be a coach as he just managed a top side in Europe thus will have opportunities to manage elsewhere. Ultimately if he wants to come back to Liverpool, in his mind it wont just be as a coach.

I have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi5-V75v-6I

Goodness gracious. Threads about ex players or players that are on their way out are straight up embarrassing these days. Reina, Torres and now Hyypia. You'd think being top of the league and playing our best football in decades would shut people up, but I guess not.

Everyone knows they were great players here. But why the infatuation with bringing them back? This is especially ironic considering Leverkusen's defense was particularly worrisome.

The snide comments to PoP are pathetic. If you can't grasp why he wouldn't be a football coach here, you clearly have no idea how (any) management works.
