Ronaldinho - the fall from grace
« on: March 26, 2008, 11:21:16 am »
Spanish sports papers tends to be fairly accurate and now reporting Ronaldinho will leave after this season.

Where to ? Real, 2 x milan or possibly chelsea - depends on the fee barca is asking for I guess
It’s not even about individuality, it’s about the team. Our game was based on his controlling of the tempo. Squeeze the life out of the opposition and then strike. That is our game. Like a pack of pythons.

I think mentally he left 18 months ago. Not good to see such a talent going through the motions.

Following in Ronaldo's footsteps to Italy I'd think.  Funny how these skillful Brazilians peak early then go into decline once they've landed the big contracts.

Add to that the fact that if some of his similarly celebrated and illustrious compatriots are anything to go by, Ronaldinho's apparently declining powers and application along with his less than stellar ability to stay at a sensible weight so far could just be the thin end of the wedge; look at the problems the likes of Romario, Adriano, and even Ronaldo (and his own weight problems) had as examples, seems to happen to quite a few Brazilian players.

The guy has won everything, and to be honest I'm not sure a 28 year old Brazilian flair player who has already won it all, is totally unproven in the tough English league, and has supposedly been on the decline since a poor showing at the 2006 World Cup which he went into regarded as the world's best player bar none is what we need to push up the league, however much natural ability he might have when he wants to use it. On top of the fact that I'm sure in spite of all of that he'd still cost a massive amount of money.

I doubt as well that he's Rafa's kind of player in terms of attitude and mentality.

If I was him I would goto Chelsea. Pay more, maybe more chance of winning another CL.

It would be a disaster but I would goto Chelsea.

Takes one to know one! :P

I think he'll go to Milan personally. They need a stellar signing after a poor season and he's been linked to them before. If he can actually be arsed to try though he can still be the best player in the world again, and maybe a change will be the motivation he needs.

I would love him at Anfield.  But that said, he needs to regain his motivation because at the moment he clearly has none of it.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Probably but what would you do with the possibility of 140K a week. He earns loads, must have loads stashed away but most of these people are greedy. Not entirely their fault but what would you do?

Depends what I earning at the moment, if it's a 100K and I enjoy playing and living at/in my current club/city, then why would I want to swap that for more money?

.... oh greed I forgot.

Ronnie likes a free role when playing. We have Stevie G doing that now and partnering Torres with a little bit of success. Just where would Rafa play Ronnie and would he adapt?

Personally I think Chelsea will swap Lampard for Ronaldinho with some money thrown in..

Yeah Chelsea will "pay" Barca 5-10 mil or something to make it seem a deal.

Wouldn't surprise me that then Barca pay part of Ronnies salary to get rid. So in the end it's a wash.

He's still young, 27 or 28 I think. So he's still got prime years ahead of him. A move could be just the thing he needs. New team, new inspiration, new ideas, new aims, new manager, new regime, new start. Rejuvenate himself.

If not, what a waste of the most naturally talented player of his generation.

"My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea. He wanted to conquer the bloody world. I wanted Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in."

He's one of those players who's marketing value probably exceeds his footballing productivity at the moment.   Like when Beckham went to Real, I can't see Ronaldinho going anywhere for £10-15m just because of how lucrative his shirt sales are....

Read an indepth article on Kaka and he lived in a mansion growing up and when he was at away games with Sao Paolo the youth team would still come round for meals and stay at his house as his mum and dad were known as that to many kids.
