Confirmed now it was a US citizen who carried out the shooting - Omar Mir Seddique Mateen. But of course him being a muslim, means he wasn't mentally ill and it was terrorism. The fact a machine gun was used has nothing at all do with it, it's was just the terrorism solely to blame.

Two billion muslims all around the world now need to say sorry, etc

You wouldn't be carrying around a weapon like that unless you plan to use it surely. Lots of muslims and Americans have problems with homosexuality, so wouldn't surprise me

This is absolutely sickening. You go out to a nightclub for a good time and get shot to death. Not one person, but dozens and dozens. It's just impossible to try and comprehend incident like this.

But unfortunately given that there was "some" kind of connection to ISIS (even if this maniac just sympathized with them and wasn't sent to carry it out by them) and Islamophobia being at an all time high in America since 9/11, it's not looking good.

There was a policeman on patrol who engaged in a gunfight at the start of the incident. The policeman was armed and didn't stop him, which shows up the whole 'if everyone is armed this won't happen' argument for the utter bollocks it is.

The gunmen was in possession of an assault rifle for which there is no justification in a civilised country. If the doormen had been armed he could have machine gunned them from a distance because he'd have had the drop on them.

Americans who support the 2nd Amendment need to understand how real life works and stop living in a fantasy where gunfights play out like cowboy films or an episode of 24.

One or two gunmen with assault weapons and the element of surprise will kill many innocent people before someone can retaliate, and even when retaliating the police or others have the disadvantage of operating under rules of engagement and the requirement to protect innocent lives first.

There are hundreds of millions of guns in America - how many do the NRA and their supporters think there need to be for this to stop happening? A billion? Two billion?

Breivik was mentally ill too, I think, but he was serious about his fascism. In a way you have to be mentally ill to think your views are so important they entitle you to kill innocent people. The same is undoubtedly true of Muslim fanatics as well, of which there have been quite a few in recent years. Mentally ill, all of them, for thinking their views are so important they can kill 'heretics'.

Of course the last thing you want to do is give these idiots easy access to guns.
