Very happy to see he's still not been picked.

and I took particular umbrage to this, anyone who can tame the greatest player that ever lived can't be half bad ;)

Best Right back of the decade, and there was no one else to pick in that position for me so had to do it sorry :(

Right, my next priority is a decent player to hold the midfield, keep the ball moving and contribute the odd goal or two. Not my first choice by any means, but this fella seems to be the best fit left:

Y'know I thought with Beckham and Kanchelskis gone that I'd be hard pushed to find a someone to provide the service from the right flank, boy was I was mistaken, and he's a great set piece specialist too, so two birds, one stone.

A perfect compliment to Roy Keane, and if he'd had someone like that beside him, could have matured into an absolute monster of a player. An all round midfielder, will supply the ammo to a pacy frontline, and provide variety on set pieces with Anderton. Don't think I'd have got him anywhere near this late on without his recent turncoat behaviour. Don't let that cloud your thinking though - for quite some time during the 90's, and despite his image, this man practically was our central midfield. I've never understood the 'crab' tag, he would have thrived in a team like mine. It's...

My left winger

John Barnes. I'm amazed that no one picked Digger. He was still one of the best left sided players in the league (when fit) well into the late 90's. When he was in full flow he was simply sublime. His inclusion in my team is for 3 reasons.

1. One of the greatest ever players in English league history

2. His crossing ability will have Sheringham and Ferdinand heading goals for fun

3. Seeing as my team has been built on strength and technique, Digger fits the bill quiet nicely.

My team needs a goalscoring midfielder to get on the end of Beckham crosses/corners. Therefore I choose the Arsenal midfielder from the mid/late 90's, David Platt.
