I have always maintained that a West Coast team will not win it in a long time (even USC didn't win it).

You're just bitter about your custom title :)

No.  Daunte Culpepper has more chance of winning a Super Bowl than Eli.

And does the Seattle Seahawks count as a West Coast team ? (;D)  I am scared they might win the SuperBowl (come on, the probability is clearly 0.25, and even more if you filter in home field advantage etc...).  I have always maintained that a West Coast team will not win it in a long time (even USC didn't win it).

I also said that this season Manning won't win it (will he ever now? This looked like his best shot), and that the Pats will definitely not win it.  The moment Rodney Harrison went down, I knew that was a season ending injury and without Rodney, the Pats cannot win a superbowl.
Completely disagree. Culpepper is an overrated qb IMO with a club in need of a makeover. Eli's NFL career spans about 25 games and expect dramatic improvement in the years ahead.

I don't understand your comments regarding west coast teams.

Regarding the Colts and Manning, you must know something the bookies don't know. 6 weeks ago the Colts were a mind boggling 4/5 to win the Super Bowl. The door was wide open for them especially with New England getting bounced out the night before. Still, a good prediction on your part.

As far as Rodney Harrison is concerned  .  .  spare me. He's a safety and a very good one but the loss of a player at that particular position isn't the reason why a club won't go all the way. 3 players for the Pats uncharacteristically made mistakes the other night: Brady, Troy Brown and Vinatieri.

Rant over.

Eli won't be a great QB, and while Culpepper is not over-rated, I picked up his name for any QB who will not win a SuperBowl (I coulda picked Rex Grossman for example).

The West Coast thing is a half joke.

With regards to Manning, the guy is so overconfident I dislike him.  He probably will be a great QB who never won the big one, and age is catching up with him (recently, all winning QB's have been in their mid-twenties.  I believe Manning is 30 now).

Harrison is a very important piece of the Patriots' team - the guy lives, breathes, eats and sleeps football.  He is your players' player; a leader on the team, a great technician, a guy who really knows what's up and what's not.  With him gone, it ain't the same.  And which Brady mistake are you refering to?  If you mean the interception, it was a greater defensive play than a mistake I think.  If the Pats want to win another one, they need to get Harrison back, plus a younger Running Back.

When it comes to winning the Superbowl lately, the team that has more grit ends up winning it.  The Colts play beautiful football, but don't have the type of grit that the Pats have shown in previous years, or the type that the Steelers showed against them (all perfectly mirrored in Cowher's snarl).  Which is surprising as Dungy can build a great defensive team (cf an unfashionable Bucs winning the big one, led by Gruden who inherited the team from Dungy).  To me it was clear that the Colts wouldn't win. (The Broncos on the other hand, may, if they beat the Steelers).  Hey, as they say over here, Defense wins you Rings!

Again I disagree with your above comments but let me say this in regards to the Colts. Everybody loves the guy and nobody would dare rip him apart especially now but Dungy himself must be held accountable as head coach. We all know he's a poor post season coach and its worth noting that Gruden won a Super Bowl with basically Tony's team. The thing is  .  .  Gruden got it done and Dungy didn't (or couldn't). When is he ever going to get a better chance than he had just now?

He wasn't on the Giants' all-time roster that on the team website, but that is the 2003 guide, so if he played after the 2002 season he'd be on there when they update the roster.

However, I've never heard of him.

Denver - 3.5 seems like good bet, better than backing them outright anyway, but both pretty difficult games to call, as it should be by this stage.

Thanks for keeping me up till half 2 watching them, if second game goes into o/t i might not sleep before work!

Well, I don't know how today will fair out. Woke up, watched addict rob the game from us in devastating fashion. I am not a huge American Football fan but the city is quite revved up for the NFC Championship match. I will give my customary support to team of the city where I dwell. The hawks have been massive underdogs all along with no one giving them any respect so seeing them win would be great.

A Hawks win will distract me to a large extent from the Red's loss. I can't take two defeats on a single day. So c'mon you Hawks.

I see the Steelers are playing tonight. Hope they go through to the Super Bowl, but I suspect today is the wrong day for my teams to play. Lost with my team, there was this game in Manchester and now it's the NFL game.  :-\ Looking bright so far though for the Steelers. 27-17.

Yes! Another TD to make it 34-17!

But after watching last week's fumble by Bettis in the last minute, which almost cost them the game, I'm not taking anything for granted.

Pittsburgh will be at least a six point favorite no matter who they play in the Super Bowl.  They have looked darned near unstoppable in the playoffs (even the Indy game was not as close as the score said it was, they were knocking the Colts all over the place).
