As revealed recently Dirk wasnt first choice then either, he took it and scored it with a fantastic penalty but he wasnt first choice then either, which was my point. Rightly or wrongly he HAS NOT been first choice in that scenario

i disagree but i cant be bothered to continue this, regardless of a disagreement in opinion a bit unnecessary to claim people are chatting absolute shit just because they have their own opinion that doesnt go hand in hand with your own

Gerrard's scored 15 of his last 17. It's 19 of his last 21 if you count the one he smashed in on the rebound against Marseille in 07. Stats are from LFCHistory.net.

Correction: He also scored the one against WestHam from the rebound, so it's 20 out of the last 21 if you count those.

OK so Voronin was. That disproves Gerrard as first penalty taker as well. When Voronin failed to shoulder the responsibilty, in a fierce local derby it was Kuyt who then stepped up to the plate. Bump Voronin off and in my book that makes him the pen taker over Gerrard. His record is 8/9 and if his last one would've had a bit more power or Howard not making a great save his pen would've been in the side of the net. So it's hardly like he skied it into the Mersey.

Kuyts are great but they're always placed and on the bottom, where as gerrards come with power and almost always in the top corner.

Suarez is a great player but there's no doubting when he's infront of goal he can be a bit hit & miss, thankfully he spends an awful lot of time infront of goal

As for who I'd want taking them, Gerrard. Never worried when he steps up, everytime just looks like he's gonna bury it no matter the occasion, would be equally happy with Dirk though. Great to have so many options though, Adam & Suarez are two great back ups & I'm sure Carroll would be decent on the spot aswell.

That sounds like something the England NT would do. Both time that they've practiced them.

You need to be calm under pressure and practice getting booed, harassed, insulted and everything else that comes with it. Any footballer should be able to put the ball in the proximity of the goal, it's whether they can do it at the moment of need that counts. Just ask the Germans.

Dirk, still. I know he missed one but even that one was well enough taken, I've seen lots of worse penalties hitting the net. Furthermore, this might have been the very first penalty miss of his career.

Just because Kuyt and Suarez ahve missed a pen each this season dosent mean they are poor pen takers. They both have excellent records thoughout their careers. With that said I would like this to be our takers:

1. Gerrard - great in both accuracy, power and composure.
2. Kuyt - accuracy and composure
3./4. Adam/Suarez - Can`t decide. They both have great records for their former clubs
