Given the international break coming up, I'm happy to run a final movie draft. Rules would be no films that have been picked in previous drafts. I can make a list of the ones that have already been picked.

Genres would be similar to the previous draft with a little more leeway. Such as below:

1 film from each of the following decades: Pre-1970's, 1970's 1980's, 1990's, 2000's, 2010s-present day

Cat 1. Action/War/Western/Adventure
Cat 2. Thriller/Crime/Mystery
Cat 3. Drama/Romance
Cat 4. Comedy
Cat 5. Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror
Cat 6. Wildcard - Foreign film
Cat 7. Wildcard (pick anything)

Don't want to make this too restrictive so as long as the decade and genre categories are filled, that's good enough. So for example, your wildcard can be for your 1980's film and then you don't need to pick another film from the 1980's.

Am thinking, no movies that have already picked in the other drafts (all time, pre-70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's).

Keep the 1 director/lead actor rule and make sure at least 3 decades are represented. Keep everything else open.

Thoughts?

A wild idea here. But this will shake things up.

A while back we had "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" type football draft or maybe the idea was floated around. We could do a movie version of it. Remove all other restrictions.

Round 1: Pick a film with Kevin Bacon in it(There is a lot of choices)
Round 2: Pick a film with another actor(not Kevin Bacon) in the film or the director of the film you picked in round 1.
and there onwards till round 6.

No repeat actors, no repeat directors.

Can keep six broad categories for films.

I'm off to Krakow nest Sunday for a week, but will be able to work round it I would think, if I can send in my picks in the morning or later at night.

Don't think I will get a signal down the salt mines though.

Gonna be a picky twat...happy to do this, but only if there's a list beforehand of all the films that we're not able to pick. Not arsed traipsing through a load of threads trying to work out if I can pick Ghostbusters 2 or not.

Not 100% sure I've got the time for this one right now. I'll be away family-ing all weekend.

My two cents on the rules. I'd keep the categories, maybe reduce them a bit with more wildcards and scrap all the decade requirements. I think they give a great framework to the draft and works great in the vote. Also potentially gets us closer to our films so bad they're good series, with people forced to search for hidden gems in weaker genres.

Here you go -

Thanks :D

But yeah....just seems like it'll be a bit of a ballache without literally just being able to ctrl+f it. I'm in but to be honest I'm just gonna pick stupid movies that no-one would ever pick (like Back to the Future part 3)

Yeah, a long list would definitely be ideal, but I doubt anyone is quite bored/sad enough to make one.

Time to start skimming Christopher Lloyd's back catalogue. Having done minimal amounts of research, this is the way. Maybe scrap the categories after all. Probably makes the draft more accessible for people.

Yeah I don’t like trying to fill the musical/family/kids genre for the sake of it (not saying there are classics within there… but the drop off from great to average in those genres is massive… (while other genres are so much deeper and rich).

Being limited on the director/lead actor/decade should be good limits alone :)

just had a look and apparently it's possible for a letterboxd pro account to export list(s) to a spreadsheet, and combine them all into one and then import that list into one place (a letterboxd list, and a spreadsheet - both which could be ctrl+f'd)

i dont have a pro account unfortunately

as an alternative, if you open those list links theres an option in the top right (next to decades/genre filters) that allows 'Detail view' which makes the page possible to ctrl+f  - though I know that doesn't solve the issue of jumping between them

Sounds ace that

Gonna be a picky twat...happy to do this, but only if there's a list beforehand of all the films that we're not able to pick. Not arsed traipsing through a load of threads trying to work out if I can pick Ghostbusters 2 or not.

I miss Lobo :D

So… when are we starting?

I have list somewhere of all the movies that have been picked thus far. If there's enough interest I don't mind running it.

Oh right. Shame, I know he rubbed people up the wrong way a bit but usually enjoyed his posts.

Yeah, I felt similar. He's a huge loss to the draft community if he is gone. After losing Trend and Claus not so long ago, our numbers are dwindling.

That'd be brilliant! I'd be happy to help with some of the other admin too (eg keeping track of picks as they come in)

BUMP.

Given the international break coming up, I'm happy to run a final movie draft. Rules would be no films that have been picked in previous drafts. I can make a list of the ones that have already been picked.

Genres would be similar to the previous draft with a little more leeway. Such as below:

1 film from each of the following decades: Pre-1980's, 1980's, 1990's, 2000's, 2010's, 2020s-present day

Cat 1. Action/War/Western/Adventure
Cat 2. Thriller/Crime/Mystery
Cat 3. Drama/Romance
Cat 4. Comedy
Cat 5. Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror
Cat 6. Wildcard (pick anything)

I'm afraid unless something changes dramatically I'm out of commission for any drafting until late October ish.
