Was that when he climbed up the building to direct air traffic, before scampering off to do a bit of charity work with Jessica Lange? :D
Here he is doing some charity work ;D

So, they want to 'MCU' Ghostbusters. There will be a male cast film directed by the Russo brothers, and then an Avengers style team-up between the two teams. And then a prequel.

What incredible bullshit this will be. Let's sum it up: 12 olds won't be interested, 38 year olds won't be interested and will feel their childhood memories are being molested AGAIN.

A Channing Tatum (in 21 Jump Street mode) Ghostbusters helmed by the Russos actually interests me but it all just sounds so reactionary and cringeworthy.

It's the talent that's the problem. The names being bandied about are a complete piss take. I think Sam Rockwell would be a good shout for at least one of the characters. Maybe even Sacha Baron Cohen as Egon or something.

Is Melissa McCarthy Paul Feig's muse or something? One saving grace is that Mindy Kaling didn't make the cut, thankfully.

They could actually make a better lead lineup out of the supporting cast of the film in Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia and Omar Little.

It will be interesting how they fold in the backstory, but I'd be willing to bet that Dan Aykroyd will have some part to play in that - said it in an earlier post, they'll more than likely go use a framework of Bridesmaid-like proportions. I find it ironic that they've released a picture of the cast posing in front of Ecto-1. A film that will be a McCarthy/Wiig vehicle - much like Stiller/Wilson, even Murray/Aykroyd back in the day.

I've always felt that the only way a truly good Ghostbusters 're-boot' would either be a CGI Disneyfied carbon-copy like Yellow Submarine, or a TV Sci-Fi (But not Syfy) series.

This will be in Poundstretcher on the DVD shelf in three years time, and if it isn't, justice ain't justice.

Trust me, it will make Terminator Genisys look like a cinematic masterpiece.  People will be wishing Michael Bey had directed it.  On the plus side, it may finally kill off the reboot crazy as it finally dawns on the Hollywood morons that they just don't have the wits or imagination to remake films of this quality and they would probably make more money by just re-releasing the original back on cinemas.

Seriously, I'd watch Ghostbusters again on the big screen, as long as they don't try and fuck it over with 3D or new CGI effects.

The original Ghostbusters could benefit massively from modern CGI, actually. The effects in the original have not aged well at all, especially the stop motion technique used on the Hellhounds and the rotoscoped proton beam effects. It looks like something from post 40's B-movies.

Just out of interest, why is McCarthy wearing something that Pennywise the Clown would wear, instead of a boiler suit that actually fits her?

I can envisage a dance and a song in this film for some reason - maybe near the end...

Either way, McCarthy should slip on a bit of shit on set and break her arse. Wiig should follow.

I'm just wondering how many references to the original, and modern day pop culture ones, they are going to throw in there. No doubt, that's what the meat of the comedy will hang on. Queue ghosts posting on Facebook, and posting selfies via their ghosty iphones. Who ya gonna Tweet...?

Been thinking more and more about how dissatisfied I am with this.  Then I realised if you were going to remake a film that doesn't need to be remade, what a horrible lost opportunity it is.  Imagine a female ghostbusters line up with these:

Could throw in Emily whilst you're at it:

Hell, you could have done a better job with Garfunkel and Oats:

But nooo... rather than get some genuinely funny women who have pre-existing chemistry we have to face this nightmare.  It's not like these gals I'm suggesting would likely be any more expensive to hire.   :-\

I don't want to see this on the cast and director. In the limited amount Ive seen of their work, it's not my cuppa. Now make it with Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, amy Poehler and Wanda Sykes ( if you HAVE to have all female/same racial demographic, which I don't think you do) and I'm there opening night.
