When I first applied for my new apartment and moved in, I was told its energy class rating was D, although it "might do a bit better" than that.

From Day One I thought that assessment was way off.  This place is a brand new build and it's been far warmer than my old place.  I barely needed the heating on during the cold snap with ice and snow a few weeks ago; in the old place I'd have needed five layers, including my thick housecoat and a hot water bottle.

Now I've had a chance to sit down and read the blurb that came with the new property I realise I've been right all along.  The property is actually rated as class B.  It's insanely efficient compared to my old flat.

And to think British Gas wanted me to pay them £75 a month for my energy.  I wasn't paying that much in my old place, and that was all electric with a key meter!  As things stand I'll be unlucky to pay £75 every TWO months!  Good times!
I don't always visit Lobster Pot.  But when I do. I sit.

Utility companies always try it on.

United Utilities tried to make me give them around £90 a month for water, even though we had actual meter readings (when the account was in the Landlord's name) which showed we used about £35-40 a month.

Took speaking to about 5 people there before they gave in and used the lower figures.

For some mad reason our were off last week, so we get two weeks of quieter roads  - going to be a bonus next Feb too when we don't get stiffed with the school holidays tax when we go to Tenerife.

Some schools close for 1 week, rather than 2 weeks off at easter don't they, main reason why some have 2 weeks off now to make up for the week at easter.

Our kids school breaks up 5th has got two weeks off, back in on the 15th and then are off Good Friday and Easter Monday too. They've also got two weeks off at Whit - nightmare for those parents who work (ie most of us)

2 weeks at whit bloomin heck i'd have loved 2 weeks off when i was at school, i remember when the summer holidays were 7 weeks, but the primary school i went to only had the usual 6 weeks break, however we had an extra week off at Christmas to compensate, by the time i went to secondary school, summer holidays were cut to the now standard 6 weeks.

Is that in US?

US have 9 to 10 weeks summer holidays, but they have summer camps that cover half of the holiday period.

It's been great for us, we've gone to Zante 3 times and Menorca twice in the second week of the holidays and it has been so much cheaper due to the rest of the UK being back in school. They get 6 and a half weeks off in summer.

It is that long since I was at school I can't even remember how long we were off for

Not really sure to be honest. Was always like that even when I was in school. Although I don't know what mid term holidays we get here in comparison to the rest of the UK. There's a week or so in October, 2 weeks at Christmas, a week this week, 1 or 2 weeks over Easter.

We get similar mainland UK but with 6 weeks at summer, then 1 week October, normally around the week the clocks go back, 2 weeks at Christmas, 1 week in February depending when easter falls, the earlier easter falls, the earlier the February holiday, 1 or 2 weeks at easter, 1 week whit

9 weeks seems excessive, i think a lot of kids start moaning being bored after 3 weeks off with the 6 week summer break never mind 9 weeks, if they're not of on family holidays.

The 6 weeks normally starts around when The Open Golf is on

I don't usually post in the non football areas, but the funniest thing happened that made (as the thread titie suggests happy)

A funny video emerged on Twitter of a man singing old (2000s) songs.

He sang the song which I now know as "Rock DJ" by Robbie Williams. I remember this song particularly around the treble season.

Anyway, all these years I thought it was "I am not a frooooog, deeeejaaay" instead of rock. (Thinking frog was slang for something). :D

My friend explained the lyrics to me, and we have been laughing ever since.

Maddest thing ever. Best thing is, it sounds better as frog. :D
