Two clean sheets and two good performances without Matip.

Who knew?!
It feels so good to have 3 very good defenders in Lovren, Matip and Klavan. Gives us depth, and there is Joe Gomez waiting on the line.

His best performance since he's been at the club.

He arrived tonight. Stood up, played brilliantly in the face of pressure and showed himself to be a leader. Well in Dejan.

These are nice posts to see. They're also completely incorrect.

No he hasn't, not like this. He's had good games, very good games, but nothing like tonight where he showed himself to be a leader in the side. He properly stood up tonight, didn't just play well, but took the game by the collar and fucked Everton up the arse.

I also thought it was his best game since he arrived. He was a rock defensively and unafraid to go head to head with their players physically, but what impressed me was how he was always available for a pass and was extremely tidy. Every time we had possession in our half he advanced to receive the ball and distributed it quickly without losing it.

Fucking loved that he stood up for the skipper tonight and didn't let those yard dogs kick us off the park. It's the derby and you don't let the ref dictate terms. Really teamed up well with Klavan (outstanding, BTW). Loved his goal celebration too. Well in Dejan.

So does he need Matip to make him look good? Brilliant performance today, nullified their hoofball tactic and defended on the front foot. Keep it up Dejan.

Him and Klavan were faultless tonight, we really are solid defensively bar the odd lapse. Im fine with pundits/other fans continually saying our defence is shite tho, long may it continue.

Won 4 out of six aerial duels against Lukaku plus a couple against Coleman and Barkley, dominated them in the air.

He was solid last night, I actually thought Klavan was the better defender last night but Lovren has absolutely been immense lately, he is trully a man reborn with Klopp.

I didn't. Barely did anything wrong there. He just talked to that flat headed twat that almost finished Hendo's career with that horrendous tackle.

If Everton had used Lukaku's pace and power down the sides or through the channels then he can cause trouble to any centre-back let alone Lovren, but hitting long balls from back to front is playing to Lovren's strengths.

Yeah good point actullay, I remember him struggling badly under Rodgers when getting dragged into the channels. Koeman missed a trick there i thought. Just pumping it up to Lukaku was so predictable and easy to deal with.

The channels are far better marshalled by our makeshift left back than they were by our specialist. I always felt Lovren was made to look suspect when Moreno was at Left Back and Coutinho left mid, when even a Hyypia would've suffered the same if his entire flank was that exposed. Just one bit of Klopp left field (literally) genius tinkering that has imp[orved us massively without spending a bean.

I agree. Sakho got all the love but for me Dejan has the composure (unlike Skrtel and Sakho) and toughness to be a great centre back. Since Klopp came in fact - he's clearly told him that he isn't Hansen, but he can be Hyypia, and that'll do. Rodgers exposed Lovren's entire flank defensively and had him trying to play his way out of trouble far too much.
He was a top centre back at Southampton and Klopp's allowed him to get on with just being a top centre back again. Great performance, but not the first.

Brilliant that clip, what a feeling being in the back 4 and about to settle for 1 point (knowing we could have done with all 3) then watching your mate in the 94 minute hit the winner.

Cue the mass celebration, the flare to add to the occasion, can't come much better than that. Love how he strode up to that fat shithouse Barkley too, I shit myself just watching it.
