A remarkable woman. She saw Her son on to the throne and lived long enough to see her grandson, Henry VIII crowned.

I enjoy the similarities to the Plantagenets/War of the Roses politics and back stabbing in this and GOT in preference to the more ethereal goings on in the Rings of Power.

Absolutely. There was an excellent documentary on Channel 4 about it, her story amazed me.

There is going to be plenty of scenes of fire and blood in the seasons ahead and dragon battles over endless places. I personally enjoyed the scene, yes, she could have burnt everyone in the room, but I kind of enjoyed that she used her head in this instance. The Greens were relying on keeping the truth from the Blacks for as long as possible, but now they know it will all kick off big style as they will know exactly what she will do next. Just because GOT had endless scenes of this nature doesn't mean they have to do the same. This is Rhaenys facing Alicent and saying the battle is about to be drawn, you could see how it affected the Greens who were all shaken.

It would have been disappointing after all the machinations and arm twisting to get Aegon on the throne for him to barbecued in the next dragons breath.

I enjoyed the scenes of the men at arms heralding a mob into the cathedral to ‘voluntarily’ witness the enthronement.

I agree it was actually a stunning scene. They know what they have brought on themselves now with this move, and just seeing Rhaenys steering Meleys out of the Hall was worth the wait. A parallel with what happened in Kings Landing at the end of GOT, as well.

I tried to read one of the books.  It was the most poorly written book I have ever come across. Dire writing, I mean, George Lucas dialogue bad.
It's better hearing it audible.

Would your recommend reading the books or waiting and watching the show? 2 years is a long time. If they were written like the ones in the main series I would 100% read them but the style they're written in is putting me off.

I think reading the books or the audible book is fine. As you say it's two years before the next one and the book is interesting if only to understand the background behind it. I have found it really fascinating because having read the book, I can see the choices they are making. If you haven't it's probably not quite the same when you watch it.

I enjoyed it and the series as a whole, with the exception of two things.

Baby deaths. Traumatic baby deaths. Now I know they say at the start it contains scenes that some viewers may find distressing, but they need to be specific. Having gone through still birth, episode one was a shock and luckily my wife never watched - but episode 10 was just as bad.

I know what they're trying to convey - but just put a more specific warning.

Wow. That was awesome. Barnstorming finish. The tension was cranked up nicely throughout the episode and the episode finished with an incredible sequence that was worthy of a movie.

Spoiler
Would liked to have seen the civil war itself but suppose that will be season 2 now. Aemond is an absolute baller.

the dead baby scene. Like why, just why? What did it add to the story? Not sure if its in the source material but its something that could easily have been omitted. As someone else here said, if you had lived through a miscarriage it wouldnt make for nice viewing.

What an amazing episode that was. I have gone through this thinking I didn't really care for either of the main female characters, yet when Rhaenyra was wearing the crown, I actually felt quite emotional watching that. It may have been because of what she'd gone through before with the poor baby, but also by the fact that when the men are all telling her to fight straight away, she is following restraint. The emotions she goes through from her losing the baby and then losing Lucerys right at the end, is just mind-numbing. That look at the end, another parallel with Dany. As for the chase I am reminded of the opening episode and Viserys saying dragons cannot be completed tamed and the result of that chase was the proof of it. Amazing stuff.

Can someone clear up for me

Viserys did actually say Aegon should be king in his last words didn't he? Why did he make a U-turn? I was a bit unclear on that bit.

No....

Spoiler
He was referring to Aegon the conqueror. He thought he was speaking to Rhaenyra. Maybe had lost his sight at this stage. Hence why he said "it is you" (Rhaenyra)

Alicent misheard him and thought he was speaking about their son Aegon.
