I really hope this Fabinho stuff is bollocks. Feels a bit last season where something appeared on Twitter and it steadily grew and grew until confirmed. This hasn’t really grown so fingers crossed it is nonsense.

I hope Klopp’s only decision is Naby or AOC. I think it’s too early for Jones to start, having been out surely?

Hate this game as normally form goes out the window. Utd will be well up for this and they have the players to counter attack us effectively. Would take a draw but just hoping for a decent performance as apart from end of last season normally when we go there we seem a bit timid.

Hoping for a nice comfortable win but expecting an afternoon of palpitations and swearing.

It’s literally just come from the observation on here that he’s not in any of the training photos hasn’t it?

I would think that the chances of Klopp announcing no fresh injury concerns and him then immediately getting injured before the following training session are pretty slim?

If we play half decent we will win.   However, this is their final, also today is Ole’s job, lose and he’s out, so they will be up for it.       I certainly would not take a draw, we are the much better side.

Thanks for the OP!

We are better than them in every area but these games have usually been horrible, regardless of who was the better side. Just get through it with a win.

Feel oddly calm about this one. Utd are inconsistent. I think I’d be more concerned if they had lost mid-week. An Ole-lead Utd full of confidence seems destined to lose. Our midfield and back 4 will need to be disciplined today.

It wouldn't shock me to see United go very defensive today and try and nick the 1-0. If they keep playing how they've been playing then we should have a fucking field day against them and as bad as Ole is, I think he and his assistants will know that and try and adjust. He wont want a hammering at home under so much pressure.

If we turn up and tighten up a touch at the back compared to midweek then I really think we'll do them comfortably.

Hope we make that early pressure count! I think we all know we're going to come out of the blocks like bloudhounds.
Cause after 20 when we're winding down, it'll be United's turn and we're going to have to press them like a can and cut down any attacks, before they themselves wind down at around the 40 minute mark. Those next 5 minutes before half-time is usually when goals are scored due to lapses in contration when both teams are readying themselves for half-time, so our concentration should be sharp.

Worried about our midfield in this. i expect United to play a little like Atletico and play on the counter even at home. Our midfield didn't protect our defence very well against Atletico and we got exposed quite often. I don't think Keita or Ox can do it and Milner surely can't go again. Just got to hope Fab is ok and Hendo is better than midweek. Can see us totally dominating but conceding a couple.

Guy Garvey just played Fearless on the radio. I take this to be a good omen.

Also how we should approach this game: fearlessly.

He then played Sgt Pepper & With A Little Help From My Friends. IT’S A SIGN!

Come on lads.  Let's get the game going first.

We all know what they’re going to do - soak up pressure and then go long for Rashford or Greenwood to run in behind and to be fair, it’s a tactic that has worked well against us in recent times especially at their ground. Hope we’re switched on defensively to nullify that so our attack can do their thing and embarrass them.

Exactly.  Far too many fans and pundits think we'll just run right through them because of how porous they've been of late and also on the back of our big win last season.  But has everyone forgotten how frustrating this fixture has been under Klopp?  He's yet to taste victory in a non-COVID season at OT and we've scored less than a goal a game during that span.  For all of OGS's flaws - and there are many - he knows how to organise his team to frustrate us and get the home crowd behind them - so did Mourinho and Van Gaal seemingly.  I would be shocked if he went with any other approach then his usual park the bus tactics because it's worked so well for them and he'll be desperate for any kind of result.

The most frustrating part for me is I don't rate Luke Shaw as a full back at all, but he seems to have the measure of Salah in these games and that just ain't right.

I've begun to see these fixtures as a bit of a litmus test as to how we are progressing in the greater scheme of things.

Kinda symbolic for leaving the not-too-distant past behind and moving on to a brighter future that involves stuffing these prima donnas every fucking game like we absolutely should rather than dropping points because... reasons  ::)

Some stuffing with my Sunday dinner please lads.

Up the fucking Reds!  :scarf :scarf :scarf :scarf :scarf :scarf

Fab is the big worry if he isn't playing. Gomez for Matip is no great drop off, I guess Jota starts for Mané. Not ideal but if true we just have to get on with it and adapt

Konate? I would be shocked rather than Gomez to be honest. He's had less games than Joe has recently, it would be asking a lot of him.

his height maybe? See It's as a threat from set pieces? Without Fab and Joel that two tall players and personally I don't think Gomez is that great in the air!

People make a good point about Konate being good in the air, but it's more him going in cold when he's not played at all which slightly concerns me.
