Defending was impeccable other than the goal.  Gerrard looked a class above when he came on.  Carroll had some good moments and was unfortunate not to score.

So happy to have Bellamy here. And so happy for Gerrard. So fuckin happy with the win  ;D
Bad first 20 minutes but after that we took control of the game. Decent game from Andy imo.

Newcastle were a lot better than I thought they would be, credit to them.

Good performance by us, not fantastic but certain individuals did really well and to score 3 goals is fantastic, and to win. We've missed Gerrard's quality so much and he'll have a positive affect on the team, Carroll especially in my opinion. Knocked in a good few balls for him and he was unlucky not to score. Great finish by Stevie, too.

Bellamy was quality, has to start the next game alongside Carroll in my opinion. Maxi and Gerrard in for Downing and Adam, please.

Oh and big shout out to the defence, another good performance, especially Skrtel. Player of the season so far?

Hope so mate. But it wasn't just that chance, it's his touch in general. I'm praying he can score a couple of goals to gain the confidence to express himself more on the pitch.

My thoughts after the game.

- Bellamy is fantastic
- We look much better when Gerrard came on and he gave some of our players a lesson in how to take a chance today and finish.
- Our defence is right now the best in the league.
- Carroll had a poor game but I think he should be given a run of games now especially with Stevie back.
- Bellamy should have cracked Coloccini one right in the jaw! Seriously though... what a shithouse. How did he not even get booked for that! It wasn't even a foul was it?

Superb performance 2nd half, brilliant finish from Gerrard and superb clearance fron Skrtel. Shame Carroll hit the bar but you can't have everything :D

Not holding my breath for retrospective 3 match bans for Collocini and Cabaye (that'll be the 2nd potential leg-breaker on one of our players that will go unpunished) but that's the corrupt and incompetent FA for you.

We buy and buy but still Steven Gerrard is the best player at the club; no player can change a game like he can. He is genuinely world-class and one of the best midfielders I have ever see, certainly chages a game more than Xavi or Xabi. Ten minutes he was on the pitch, and he puts two world-class crosses ito Andy Carroll, and a 3rd one followed.
What about the ball through to Carroll? Andy really should've scored, but that will probably come with confidence. Gerrard is truly magnificent.

The game as a whole. I had strog hopes we'd improve, and we certainly did. Our attacking play second half was much improved. Great to see bellamy getting 2 goals also.
We contained them well, as they are a good attacking team - they definitely deserve to be 7th in the league.
Like I said though (and a few others), we will see the best of Andy, when Gerrard is on the pitch; no doubt.

Carroll was really good today. As soon as Gerrard started whipping them in it all became clear, we've given nothing great to Andy in terms of crossing. Those are the crosses Barton, put in for him, and the sort of crosses the team needs to start working on.

Hendersons pass for Gerrard too needs mentioning, and his overall work rate, concidering people seem to keep pointing out his lack of contribution.

Adam looks tired.

My judgement:

Reina: 7. A deja vu for him, had the same against Blackburn. Nothing to do, but no clean sheet as an own goal haunted him.
Johnson: 6. Didn't have his shooting boots on despite being desperate for a goal. Otherwise solid.
Agger: 7. Unlucky with his own goal, but a good job building up play.
Skrtel: 9. A big beast. Kept Ba in his back pocket and when he lost him for a second he recovered in a manner I haven't seen a player do all season
Enrique: 7. Tough to face your old team. Did a good job for me.
Spearing: 9(MotM). A little beast. What fuckin' tackling ability the little fella's got.
Adam: 5. Again not great by our Scot. His main danger is his enormous set piece danger, but it's gone AWOL somehow.
Henderson: 6. Sloppy, very sloppy at times. Which was a shame.
Downing: 7. Great ability, still lacks an end product though.
Bellamy: 8. What a player, it's always happening with him in the team. Two well struck goals, with a bit of luck but who cares.
Carroll: 6. What to make of him? When he does something wrong, he does it wrong horrendously. When he does something right, luck doesn't shine on him
Gerrard: 9. What a cameo. What a fuckin' player and thank Fowler he's back.
Kuyt: 7. That's why one would put Kuyt on, he ran around like hell chasing Magpies which caused huge trouble.
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

Yeah, lets start dropping players when they're hitting some sort of form.
What form? He did fuck all as usual. Like I said: Gerrard comes on, and within 5 minutes gets his head up and puts in two cracking balls into Andy. You're fortunate to get that in 5 games with Downing.

Gerrard's performance was sublime.  Absolute magic on the pitch.  It was like nearly every ball he sent in was perfect.

Goals will be up with Gerrard back.  It's exactly what we needed.

Thought Carroll had a really good game. Clearly lacking a bit of confidence, as you can see from a few dodgy touches. But he looked hungry tonight and put him self about, when Gerrard came on he looked like the beast we know he is. Few run of games with that kind of world class behind him, we will see him meeting his potential.

bellamy was my man of the match, was fuckin brilliant,
2 goals and with his attitude and movement is a total liverpool football player

then comes some young scouser from the bench and steals the show

steven gerrard the only man that could improve even barca's midfield thats how good he is

and the fact he's not even fit is scary

i... probably like a lot of us was wondering.... injury at an older age ummmm has he still got it??

So happy for Stevie. We showed a lot of character in the second half, never really taking a foot off the pedal.

And if you lot dont mind me saying that, i wanna punch that little french twat in the face for what he done to Spearo. Saying that what a game Jay had,if he keeps playing the way he did today, missing Lucas wont hurt us as much.

Carroll comfortably has worse control than Kuyt.

Thanks for that contribution.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. His big smile fades in an the net is shivering and J.Hart's trying not to look grateful for the privilege of being that close to greatness

2 actually. And he hit the bar with one.

It was at least 3. He should have scored 2 of them- they were on a plate. Hitting the bar is missing.

His touch makes Kuyt look like Leo Messi as well.

Great result for us, which will help the whole team's confidence.

Bellamy's first goal was brilliant, second wasn't too bad either :),  after a bit of a dodgy start Carroll did better and started to run into areas where he could put a threat on goal but I think once Gerrard came on he lifted the side, everyone seemed to get a new lease of life.

With a fit Gerrard, we could progress now, with or without Suarez in the side.

Hitting the bar is missing yes, but atleast he attacked the ball like some were moaning about.
