I know, it's making me feel a bit sick with envy, the little man and Arcade Fire headlining at the same festival would be like a dream for me. No tickets obviously.

Returned tickets go on sale in Spring after the official lineup is announced. Best of luck

I have "Around The World In a Day" on vinyl, my 6 year lad and I love dancing to Pop Life. Amazing song, maybe a bit under-rated that song and album? The Ladder is ace as well.

Around The World In a Day is a great album. I have the 12" of America on vinyl, it's around 23 minutes long, 23 minutes of pure funk. The Ladder sounds great in the car, very loud.

Prince (and the Revolution) churned out album after album in the 80's, up until 1988 every single one of them was at least very good, after that I think he went a bit astray, but even on the not so good later albums there are absolute gems of tracks. He also tested his fans by changing his musical style on every album. The jump from Purple Rain (84) to Around The World In a Day (85) was massive, guitar based rock to psychedelic pop, pushing the boundaries.

Here's an excellent Prince homage by the now sadly defunct Ween. Enjoy:

If you like that check out, LMLYP from them as well. Pure filth!

They based that LMLYP on Shockadelica, an old Prince B side, as you said, it's pure filth. I'll take a look at the Ween homage later at home, nice one.

He's been doing a few 'pop up' shows in London recently, nothing advertised until Facebook and Twitter are informed and the word spreads. £6 to get in, going down a storm apparently.

Our lass is having problems trying to get tickets for Leeds

Not now, she's managed to get 2 of the cheap seats for £73 each - I'll go if she can't get any of her mates interested.

Gonna give this tour a miss, already going to see Arcade Fire at Earls Court in June, cannot justify (or afford) another 600 mile round trip. Seen the little man 3 times before so don't feel too gutted, have a good time to those going, you'll have a ball, he's the the best performer currently on Earth.

Going to see him tomorrow night in Glasgow.

Have to say I'm very excited!

Never seen him live before and wouldn't say I'm his most avid fan but he's a fantastic musician and can't wait to see what he's done with some of his classic tunes with his new band.

On top of that, true entertainer and knows how to put on a spectacle.

Should be great!

I've not bothered listening to any of his albums since 3121 was released, eight years ago. Might have to give these a go.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/cdreviews/11124601/Prince-Art-Official-Age-review.html

Prince, Art Official Age, first review: 'delightfully nuts'
Prince's new solo record is slick, seductive and thrilling, says Neil McCormick
4 out of 5 stars

Following the hysterical response to his hit-and-run shows with female rock trio 3rdEyeGirl, Prince has reunited with his classic record label Warners to release two new albums on the same day. Art Official Age is a slick, seductive electro funk sci-fi concept album with a synthetic ambience evoking classic Eighties Prince pop, while Plectrumelectrum sees the Minneapolis wonder strap on an electric guitar to dive headlong into the heavy rock territory he has flirted with since Purple Rain. They are both genuinely thrilling.
The solo-credited Art Official Age sounds like the work of a super-syncopated one man band, built up from the lean snap of drum machine programming and rubbery bass, overlaid with sprinkles of synth. Hooks are concocted from cleverly warped sound effects and there’s plenty of space for Prince’s sharp rhythm guitar chinks to push and pull as his spine-tingling self-harmonised vocals clamber from slowed down low notes to that startling superhuman falsetto.
The album alternates between intense slow jams and funky workouts but there is a concept of sorts, featuring Prince awakening from suspended animation into a future where enlightenment is achieved by divesting redundant notions of ego and sexism.
It gives him an excuse to dispense plenty of dubious lyrical wisdom about how other people should live their lives. Prince’s admonition to the present generation of pop stars that “you don’t need to be rude, you don’t need to be wild” may sound a bit rich coming from a man who has certainly been a bit of both in his time, but the taut inventive drive of Gold Standard more than demonstrates that for Prince music always comes first.
The Gold Standard, for Prince, is music that offers “spiritual healing for the body and soul and mind”, and he takes this nonsense so seriously he compels the listener to do so too. It may be an R’n’B genre problem that too many songs can seem flimsy excuses for a groove but epic future soul ballad Breakdown is stunning, and London songstress Lianne La Havas provides a sensuous vocal foil on clever, quasi-philosophical duets Clouds and What It Feels Like. It is all quite delightfully nuts.
