What kind of midfielder would you describe Sahin as? Box to box, holding, defensive, attacking, more central?

maybe deep lying playmaker. his attacking attributes're better but also he has the defensive mentality and knows how can he get the ball back clearly. probably he will be the alternative for Xabi, they have both same abilities.

Khedira has a very tactical role at Madrid. He never was a defensive midfielder ala Xabi indeed, but he doesn't get forward too much either, it's the 4 forwards and Marcelo doing that mostly.

I don't see it, Khedira is often making bursting runs into the box, a lot of the times being advanced more than other midfielders.

He never actually did anything once he got forward which was the problem.

Great signing, but I don't really understand the move for Sahin and Dortmund. They're a team on the rise. Will be interesting to see if Dortmund will sell more key players now, I don't think Klopp will be happy if they end up back to square one.
Socrates did have a habit of polarising opinion, as does Lucas. Lucas is also good at hemming opponents in and locking them into difficult situations.

I'd say he's the long term replacement for Xabi. Xabi is 29 and has 2 years left on his contract. If Sahin can do what he does well enough for the next season, they can think seriously about letting him go rather than giving him what would likely be a rather expensive extension. I wager that if Sahin plays well enough, Xabi might become available end of this season. It's a big if though, and even if he does, I suspect he might want to wind down his career at Sociedad.

Just watched this: http://www.footylounge.com/films//realtheoffside2/nuri-ahin-the-pass-master-part-1-video_3ffb9bb50.html

Can't help but think how well he'd fit in, in our team. He suits our way of playing perfectly.

Seems like a good player. It's a pity we missed out on Ozil when we had a chance to get him as well.

So Madrid got Bundesliga's player of the year, while we got Serie A's player of the year. And Cesc on top of that :D I have a feeling that Xavi jr., that is Cesc Fabregas is going to be dominating Ozil and Sahin for years to come :)

Rumoured loan to Arsenal.

If true, they can't be that confident of Wilshere reclaiming full fitness for a while or maintaining it even.

We can't even try for him, CL football wins out

would make sense to sweeten the deal... But maybe Arsenal pay more for the loan than it reduces the fee for Modric.

True but if the rumor of the loan is right, wonder if CL football might have swayed it our way.

I cant see Mourinho doing Villas Boas any loan favours, seems to be a bit of a fallout since they parted ways. Would love Sahin on loan or a full deal if he is available but I guess if we get Allen not much room & no CL makes it less realistic.

The turnover of managers cant help either I guess if its a young player the parent club want back.

Spurs still might get there if Malaga don’t fix up their financial problems ASAP.
