Oh yeah, forgot all about Bellamy. You'd imagine that the funeral may be on Tuesday so he might not be up to it, as you say.
I'd have thought the funeral will be the end of this week or even early next week. What will be will be with that one but I'd have thought Bellamy would be ready for Tuesday, life has to go on.

Can see an interesting squad for this, difficult to pick a team, can't see anyone who started today starting, bar Reina, possibly Henderson.

Reckon we will look something like this :

Reina

Kelly, Carragher, Coates, Robinson
Maxi, Henderson, Spearing, Aurellio
         Carroll,  Bellamy (dependant)

Can see squad places for the likes Wilson, Flanno, Wisdom, Coady, hopefully Morgan and Sterling too
Robinson is out for a while.

Forgot about that, can see Wilson there, it's a difficult tie to blood just youth, although I remember when we beat spurs on pens with a virtual youth side.

It does indeed.

I don't really know what it's like in England, but in Ireland you'd rarely have over a week between the death and the funeral. It usually happens a few days after. Anyway, no real point in speculating over when a funeral might take place and whether or not Bellamy will play.

Make no mistake, Kenny wants to win this game big time. There will be no kids playing.

It's normally about a week here mate. Like you said, it is an irrelevance. If Bellamy does not feel ready to play then there's no point in him playing.

True.

I reckon Kenny will put out the strongest team he can for this game. A trophy would be absolutely massive for us and this is definitely our best shot at one this season.

We have taken the league cup serious all the way, so there's no reason stopping now. Some changes will obviously be made. I hope we'll see Suarez-Carroll up front.

Bellamy should play if he want's to and that's what I think Kenny will tell him.

Feels like if we win this game the confidence around the club would be immeasurable.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

I don't think Lucas will play. He must be physically exhausted after today. I really don't think anyone who started today will start on Tuesday, bar Reina and possibly one of the centrebacks.

Would you expect Lucas to be rested if we had a Champions League group game instead?

I'm guessing at Pepe; Kelly, Carra, Coates, Aurelio/Enrique; Henderson, Lucas/Adam, Spearing, Maxi; Bellamy, Suarez/Carroll.

Very vague.

It's not just Lucas, it's every player who played today. I only mentioned him because he's the most prominent name on everyone's teamsheet from all the players who played today (bar Reina).

To answer you're question, I don't know.

the plastic boys will be up for this match and after last nights efforts most of our starters will be tired. hope we dont play extra time!

Yep. It's actually quite funny when you watch it.

The commentator on the game (I was watching in the states) said something about Terry deliberately wasting time so he'd be ruled out of Tuesday's match. Pardon my thickheadedness, but why would he do this? Surely Terry/Luiz is a much stronger CB pairing than Alex/Luiz.

He wasn't going to play anyway. He knew he was only 1 booking from a suspension and would rather be suspended for a Carling Cup game than PL. Its a win/win situation for Chelsea as he wasn't gonna play anyway.

Think its important to have a strong bench for this. If we do make changes and things aren't going well, then obviously we want quality waiting to come on, but if we play many starters from today we could find some tired legs, especially if it starts heading towards extra time

A lot depends on who's picked up knocks today and who's got the quickest recovery times but I'm sure we'll change at least half the team. At least with 6 days gap before Fulham there'll be plenty of rest time

So I'd hazard a guess at something like

Reina

Kelly
Carra
Coates
Enrique

Maxi
Lucas
Spearing
Henderson
Bellamy

Carroll
Didi Hamann

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

Anyone see Lucas and Suarez on twitter after the City game? Both talked about the Chelsea game, in fact Lucas even said he should get as much recovery as possible. I wouldn't be surprised to see both start.

I've got no issues with Carra starting this one ahead of Agger. We need to keep Agger fit and playing him so soon after tonight's game may be a bad thing given his injury record. We could really do with him being fit in the league.

I'd go something like:

           Reina
Kelly  Agger  Carra  Enrique
         Lucas   Jay
       Adam/Henderson
Maxi      Suarez       Bellamy

Lucas spoke about getting rest on twitter for Tuesday so I guess he's planning on playing. Can't see us leaving out Suarez and Bellamy is surely a 100% after not playing today. But then what about Andy?

Is Aurelio even fit? No need to play Enrique (give him a rest) if he is because Aurelio is comfortably a legitimate top 4/ top 6 left back when fit. Plus he isn't a half bad center mid either.

I am hoping that we can get another win here, playing Carroll, it seems to me at least, is a good idea.

If it goes to penalties I'd back us to win with Reina between the posts and several top class penalty takers.

1. Adam
2. Suarez
3. Kuyt

4. Agger (takes them for country)
5. Bellamy

Even with Gerrard out that'd be hard to match in terms of quality penalty takers.

I'd take that. I'd swap Enrique for Aurelio, if he is fit.
