Surely play Maxi again won't he? Did a job last weekend and league cup seems to be where he has had most of his run outs this season anyway!

Besides if he scores again than we will end up getting around 10m when he moves to Chelsea in Jan ;)
Would love the 19th more and more trophies; but would love even more to see a fan owned LFC.

Would be irresponsable to play Suarez against Chelsea. The lad badly needs a break, not 2 games in 3 days and 3 games in 7 if he plays against Fulham.

Maybe we could rest him (bench) for the Fulham game with Dirk and Andy starting. I just feel it would be a real shame if we didn't go all out to land the silverware. Would love to see King Kenny win something in his first season

Pretty sure Suarez will be on the bench for one of these games.

Suarez could be rested for the first 45 minutes at City then come on for the second 45, and then also do the same against Chelsea. That's probably worth thinking about.

Think he will be on the bench for the Fulham game as the winner of this match will go on to win the cup in my opinion.

Should start with Carroll and Suarez upfront for this and keep Bellamy nice and fresh for the FUlham game to give Suarez a rest.

Why would we rest Suarez against City if he is fit to play? Or has he picked up a knock?

Another reason why the match should be played Wednesday. If United were travelling to Palace then I'd understand it being televised, but Palace will get about 9,000 tickets which is about 2/3 of their average home attendance.

Best not play a weakened team, no reason to, yes its a couple of days after the City game but its for a place in a semi final...

That alone should be enough reason as to why the likes of Suarez and co. should be played (again)

Massively disagree, Suarez must be rested. He has had international tournaments in consecutive summers. Elsewere, we now have a good squad so there is no problem playing the likes of Martin Kelly, Andy Carroll (!), Jay Spearing and possibly Carragher.

Of the first team squad starters we only need to see Reina, Henderson and Downing out there imo

If the same team as last week plays against City we can still put out a pretty strong team. With only Renia,Lucas and Kuyt or Suarez starting them both

Reina
Kelly
Carragher
Coates
Aurelio/Robinson
Henderson
Lucas
Spearing
Downing
Carroll
Suarez/Kuyt

Subs
Doni
Suarez/Kuyt
Flanagan
Aurelio/Robinson
Maxi
Skrtel
And maybe one of the more attacking kids Suso/Sterling or Morgan

Nah, it probably isn't really  :P

Suarez needs to start against City and we need to make an impression on that game and if we are able to get ahead, he can be rested. He doesn't need to play in the Carling even one minute imo

Agreed. Sometimes the cards just don't fall in your favor and you have to get some luck to help you win. We need to concentrate on the league. The Carling Cup is a trophy that would be nice to win, but achieving CL football is the goal this season, even the owners have said as much. With Chelsea stuttering in the league, it's likely they rest players as well. I've no doubt we can beat them in any case, but I'd rather it not be at the expense of Suarez being even more knackered than he already is. Play some of the players looking for form, and mix in some of the established first-team players that have the stamina levels to do the job. I think Carroll should start this, with Maxi and Bellamy as well if they don't feature prominently Sunday.

That's decided within a matter of months, and other quality teams to contest with, for the sake of just risking it for 1 game we can potentially be 2 legs way from Wembley...

No point predicting any line-ups until tomorrow's match is over, but I think we should go very strong, maybe give Suarez a rest and have him on the bench. Other than possibly bringing in Spearing as well, I'd go full strength.

Beauty of it is at the mo we can go still strong and use the squad. While I agree it is all speculation it would make sense if Kenny puts his faith in the rest of the squad and give them the chance to impress. Downing, Flanno, Hendo, Carroll, Carra, Kelly, Jay, Fabio are all itching to get back in the team so play them. He played 5 at the back there last season and got a result so I'm speculating he might do it again knowing Carra will look after Kelly and Coates alongside him. Adam will keep a cool head in midfield.

Anyways, it's all a punt. You wouldn't know which team Kenny would play even if he had a week in between games tbf.

Surely play Maxi again won't he? Did a job last weekend and league cup seems to be where he has had most of his run outs this season anyway!
If he plays tomorrow, he "might" be a little doubtful. He's knocking on a bit. On the other hand, we've got 3 options for that wing, so he might feature in both anyway since Bellamy and Downing are also available for subbing.

About the only constants, I would want to see in the team in both these matches are the same back-5, Suarez, Lucas and Adam. After these games, we can relieve Suarez/Adam/Lucas a bit by subbing in the next 2/3 games to give them small "pockets" of rest. The ext 2 games are going to take a bit out of them and we have December coming up with 5 games, followed by City away, 3 days into January.

Looks like Chelsea planned that booking to me.

I've never agreed with this cross competition system with bookings. If a player gets 5 bookings in the league they should be banned from a league game. I recall Luis Garcia and Hayden Mullins missing the FA Cup Final in 2006 after being sent off in a league game.
