Pearl Jam just announced a New album Dark Matter 19th April
The title track is the best song they’ve done in a long time

Also announced a world tour. Heading down to Australia in November supported by the Pixies.
And all the world is football shaped, It's just for me to kick in space. And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste.

Aye, I posted about the tour in the other thread. I’ll definitely be trying for tickets. if the albums anything like the first track it’ll be their best since Yield. Fingers crossed the rest is up to that standard

Nice Glastonbury shaped hole in the UK tour dates.

Get Bruce over from his European tour for a guest appearance. They’ve played together previously.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Also loving the new Beth Gibbons track. Album is due in May. Awesome.

to be honest, thought she'd pretty much retired so this is a very pleasant surprise.

Have been mastering this album I'm mixing, but reading a lot about the loudness war is interesting.

Yeah, I ain't fallin for that. I'll serve the music. It'll breathe, it'll have dynamics. It's rock, it's roll, it's superb, I can't wait to talk about it in depth, but I've been listening to random new stuff and feel the music gets compromised by the mastering process

Yeah, well not on my watch

Idles new album is a bit of a struggle to get through. My least favourite of their’s to date, Grace is a tune though.

Really liking new Idles. Was at their album launch on Friday. Played nine tracks from tangk few of the slow ones don’t land in amongst the raucous tunes, but I like where they’re headed.
By the way, I should tell you that I haven’t had a chance to shower while making my way up here, my balls are extra vinegary.

Nah. I like his new stuff that I've heard but it won't even be in my personal top five come the year end. YMMV.

Slightly obsessed with the cracking new Bodega track right now - Tarkovski (named after the film-maker rather than the berk who plays for Everton, I presume):
https://youtu.be/e9OlwIFcNoY?si=ABPxZJiuA9Qofs2l

Early contender for guitar solo of the year. Bit of a Tom Verlaine vibe to it.

When I first saw Ride back in 1991, when I was still a callow teenager, I never imagined I'd still be listening to new records from them in my 50s but here you go - their new one is a beauty...

Saw them a few years back and they were great. Election night '19 actually - they made their feelings on Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson clear.

I'll be sure to try to catch them on the upcoming tour.

I've got a ticket for their in-store at Rough Trade in April when the album comes out. Should be fun. Still umming and ahhing over whether to get a ticket for the main tour - I balk at paying £45 to see a bunch of old geezers.

First time I saw them was when they headlined Slough Festival in 1991 - shoegazing's answer to Woodstock. Tickets were £6. It was in a park right under the flightpath out of Heathrow but Ride were so loud they drowned out the planes going overhead. Slowdive, Mock Turtles, Thousand Yard Stare and Curve were also on the bill, plus some others I forget.

Really enjoying The Chisel - What a F’n nightmare.

They are a proper UK punk throwback and they carry the energy through the whole album, I don’t think there is a duff track on it.  Confrontational, topical lyrics. If you like that sort thing you’ll love it.

New Black Crowes is pretty dull. Used to be my favourite band but they’re a pale shadow nowadays. Only Chris & Rich left so not really a proper band now just them and hired hands.

Not listened to it properly yet but from what I’ve heard the new Everything Everything record sounds pretty good in places to me
