Going into town at the weekend......
« on: September 20, 2005, 11:56:10 am »
Im off out for a meal into Liverpool City Centre on sat and was wondering where to go for it. Normally I go Italian but want to try something else. Was thinking going Spanish but dont like the idea of little tapas dishes, do they do full meals with pasta rice at all? If not anyone got any highly recommended places to go? Last place I ate at was Colins Bridewell which was superb.

Thanks in advance peeps  :wave

There is a restaurant called the Algarve (Portugese obviously).  Its popular for RAWK meet ups.  Believe the food is very good.

I'm sure there's plenty of threads about this, various suggestions for decent chineses/indians/etc.

Also a big load of restaurants listed in the 'visitors guide to liverpool' thread which might give you some ideas.

I do know of or about most restaurants as I am from the area, but was just after any personal recommendations from people experience really.

Zorba's Greek Taverna. on Leece street (I think its Leece street anyroad).

Sapporo Tepanyaki Japanese Restaurant on Duke street. However I think this has a 2 week advance booking for weekends, though you may get lucky ??

Good Spanish on is La Vini on North John Street...they do big plates too! Nice little bistro called Cafe Pierre on Button Street above Wade Smith. Enjoy...

Sorry wilf, La vina was poo when I went and I was really looking forward to it  :'(.

If you want something totally diffrent try the japanease restraunt on duke street, been three time and the set menus they do are good for an east introduction into tepanyaki style cooking.

My personal recommendation is heathcotes.

ate there the other week, had home made sausages with Mash and gravy and pea and ham soup for starters  :lickin. the meal for 2 with a bottle of wine come to just under £50 which was nice  ;D

Just think of normal dishes that you eat, like steak, in a rich creamy sauce with a ton of cheddar grated over it and put under the grill.

Replace, steak with chicken, prawns, pork and you get the idea  ;D

Shame that. I thought it was OK. Personally I think Tapas is a bit dull anyway. Babycream on the dock was pretty good when I went for lunch last month...

Tapas is only dull if you go to crap Tapas places and pick boring things. It's small portions of typical Spanish food, which I guess a lot of people don't like because it isn't English and doesn't come with chips.
