The second best centre back we’ve got, his progress this season has been amazing.

Can't actually believe how much he's improved, especially when you consider the injuries. Hold my hands up and say at the start of the season I thought he was a decent prospect and nothing more. He's playing like a young Virgil!

Always been an outstanding prospect. Was unfairly picked at for the odd lapse last season despite looking an excellent defensive fullback with good ball playing ability. He's gone and taken that and applied it to his central position and we look even better both because we had another fast player to the back and also because he plays out of the back so so well that it takes some pressure of Van Dijk to do it all the time.

The way he played in the home league match against the bitters last season convinced me he was gonna be a star. Great front foot defending instincts.

Early shout for young player of the year.

Fantastic start to the season.

What a signing. Imagine how much further he would have progressed had he not been blighted by injuries. Not only that he was brilliant when he came on for Virgil, he was the main man and in charge despite playing alongside the more experienced Matip.

We’re so solid at the back now with top top players in all four back four positions. I am chuffed ...

Perhaps maybe just maybe, it's better he had those injuries that kept him out of the side. I think he has benefited majorly from having VVD beside him, Alisson behind him and two real quality young fullbacks flanking him. Great for confidence and learning a lot from VVD.

If he debuted and played regularly next to Lovren and had Karius and Montero as defensive partners, we would have conceded a lot more and perhaps his confidence and delevlopment could have taken a massive hit...

Of course Noone wants to miss two years of their career but he couldn't have come into the side at a better time.

I think he's actually played better than VVD so far. That doesn't mean he IS better - VVD is a once in a generation combination of physical and technical attributes and it's a dream that he's ours - but Gomez form so far has been nothing short of imperious.

I had thought that Lovren's place might be under threat if Gomez got in, but I never dreamed it would be to this extent - that Gomez would so rapidly make himself undroppable.

And to come in at half-time yesterday, with a new partner, playing on the other side of defence - and he just owned the pitch from the first second.
He is the cat who walks by himself, and all roads are alike to him.

The fact that he was playing in the 1st team as a 16 year old before we bought him says a lot about how talented he really is and how highly rated he was as a youngster. Yes, injuries have halted the progress a bit, but it's good to know that he is now back to the level he was before the injury and getting better and better.

That's an under-service to both Lovren and Gomez. Yesterday, Gomez came on and played without VVD and slotted right in. Also, Lovren playing with Karius, VVD, Robertson and TAA looked really solid last season. He'd also look better with his current set of partners.

Obviously ACL and other injuries haven't helped him, but missing the world cup probably has been a blessing in disguise for him for his own personal development. Remember how he struggled after returning from injury in the last few games of the season before the final injury that ended his chances. Since then, he has had the benefit of a full pre-season working with Klopp and VVD. I don't think it is any surprise that there two have worked well together at the start of the season and the knowledge and confidence gained from that should help him regardless of partner.
Some clubs were always destined for greatness...

It is impressive that he came in, grabbed that opportunity and repaid the faith of his manager. It is not going through the motions for him and he is earnestly giving food for thoughts for Klopp.

A lot of players have missed World Cup because of injuries or poor form, him, Lallana, Sturridge. He has made it count the most.

Played great again. Just the one big mistake when Hazard had the one-to-one in the second half when he went to sleep when Chelsea took the quick free-kick. Its great to have a world class keeper and a world class CB partner to help and cover when he does make mistakes.
