I havnt been sure about Cody, but really played well from the left side when he came on. Maybe in a 3-4-3 the left attacking position with luis daiz is his best

Really good. Looks much better playing wide I think.

His crossing technique is great. Very consistent amount of loft and accuracy to it just crying out for someone to attack it. Good cameo

He's been great at LW every time this season, which isn't much because he's been started as LW only 3 times. Created about 7-8 chances for the past 2 games. Turns out he has been misused all season and gotten shit for it. Sigh.

Think he deserves a little bit of a run in the team based on his recent form. At the very least, he doesn't look as lethargic as everyone else. I accused him of laziness a while back, but he's addressed it and upped his energy levels and he deserves credit for that.

Salah, Nunez and Diaz all appear to be running on fumes at the moment, so if Gakpo can sustain his energy levels, he can maybe play a role in us having a respectable finish to the season.

He's been great since we stopped pretending he's a false 9, no goals I know but the team as a whole has been a mess so I don't think that can be pinned on him.

I'd be tempted to try a Gakpo Nunez Jota front three soon, we need a cohesive trio and I think they could be that.

He was the best player on the pitch by a distance when he came on. It's possible his bad spell was down to be overplayed while our injuries were at their worst. Still think he'll be a very good squad player for us at a minimum as he has a ton of talent.

I really don't understand how many doesn't notice how talented he is. He came to us at a time when we were really struggling and helped us massively then we used him as a cover for different positions. He just need to be played regularly as a second striker or wide left , every player would struggle some games at the same situation as him.

I don't think anyone should question his quality. I do think it is maybe fair to question how he fits exactly but he is clearly very talented

Still think the lads fucking class, one of the only players driving forward and committing players right now. I’d focus on getting him near goal as we’re missing his ghosting in at the back and hitting those quick snapshots

By far our best attacking player tonight, and should have had 2-3 assists

When he got tired we lost all our attack

Gakpo seems to be the only player on a upward trajectory form-wise at the moment - in the last few games he's showed more hunger and strength, and is currently the only forward who looks that they're actually in control of the situation.

Crazy how quickly things can turn in football, because a month ago I probably wouldn't have raised a protest if he was sold in the summer, but now I'd be keen to see what he can do under a new manager/in a new system.

90 minutes without a shot pretty mean achievement in a must win game .
He just carries so little threat
I have no clue why we went back to playing him as a 9 when you’ve got 4 maybe 5 better options to play the position

He created our best chances, threat isn’t just about shooting, he literally created the best chance for Salah, and created 5 chances the last game.

It's weird how much praise he gets on here in comparison to our other attackers. I think he has stepped it up a bit in the last few games but that's not saying much considering he was absolutely fucking shite for months.

In fairness I think we played him through the middle to try and restore some fluidity to our attack and it did work for a spell. But yeah, Cody Gakpo is not the long-term answer in any position as far as I'm concerned.
