The more things change the more things stay the same.
True, same old same old. I thought the £28m man and Gar Bar were going to sort the Arse? If Lukaku gets injured they are truly fucked, their back up is the injured Kone (and what`s the point when he isn`t injured because he`s shite) and Naismith who is just, well, not that good really. Decent hard working player player but never going to be a player they could rely on week in week out to the score the goals to push them into the top four. The need to keep Lukaku fit, in form and free from suspension for most of the season to have a shout at the top four. That's a big ask.
Considering their small squad, that £28m they spent could surely have been spread better across their squad. If they lose a centre back or two, they are left with the young Stones and who? Distin is on his last legs and Jagielka is getting on. If they lose a midfielder or two then what`s next? Same with Lukaku.
Looks like they need to keep on shopping in the loan market after Martinez blew his load on one player and that`s not a good way to build a squad for the long term. Taking other teams players, let them play a bit then pass them back. "Here ya go mate, you can take him back a better player now and we hope we can help another team next season"
I can see big problems for them at some point in the season when injuries and suspensions kick in. As long as they throw in a plucky little effort now and again against our rivals then happy days.
