There is only so much that can be said before the case has been proven. Where I go, I see plenty of stuff out there and journalists are prepared to talk about it. But they can only claim so much before the case has been proven. City are denying the charges, so no newspaper is going to go big on their being guilty before its been proven are they?

As for the time it's taken, yes it is complicated. The last article I read from Harris suggested there are a number of witnesses who need to be interviewed that in itself takes a lot of time, especially if
they are not all UK based. Once this starts it will become a much bigger story in itself and then perhaps we will get more information coming out.

I understand all that with the case pending, but all I'm asking is that people mention the charges (nothing illegal or even provocative in that) and discuss that these charges are there in the context of what we're seeing on the field season after season.

Or, if the writers and broadcasters don't want to do that, then just shut up and don't praise them. But instead we mostly get the worst of both - no mention of the charges and shitloads of praise for City as though they're totally legit.

It's not a high bar I'm setting for journalism in the UK, but the vast majority keep limbo-dancing way under it.

I like the fact that Slot was open about it all last night when he was asked about it,normally there’s no comment from anyone until it’s done, especially at this stage of a season.. He obviously knows what he wants, think the Dutch are quite open like that,a bit arrogant maybe, think it’s a positive thing myself ..

Ruben Amorim ticked several requirements, but his playing approach - particularly using three at the back - and long-term vision did not fit the current squad nor the philosophy implemented through all age groups at Liverpool. [@MelissaReddy_]

One intermediary suggested that Amorim's meeting with West Ham was to put pressure on Liverpool, but Liverpool had ALREADY marked Slot [@MelissaReddy_]

Is Melissa Reddy of Sky Sports now an external member of Liverpool FC's press office? Odd she's coming out with all this unsubstantiated stuff now Slot is in the 'waiting room' with his pen in hand.

There's something to be said about a baldman that refuses to grow out a beard to balance things out. It's something Alan Titchmarsh would describe as "big dick energy".

:D

Is that Partridge? If not, it should be!

I like that he seems to play a similar style and will be able to work with the squad we have. To be honest I don't want too radical changes at the moment. We have good players, and good youngsters coming through. Despite replacing nearly half the starting 11, we are getting back into the CL, we've won one cup and were in the run in for both the league and the europa league until the very few last games. If we had been shit, yes, by all means rip everything up and start from scratch. But the way we are looking right now, it seems to me we are more in a shape where a few coaching and tactical changes, and maybe one or two new players, could iron out or weaknesses and help us improve quite a bit.

Looks even worse on the players
Looks like a Rob Liefeld drawing.

Which I understand, but surely formation shouldn't be a requirement for hiring a manager.

Why not? if you have a squad and a youth system that are used to playing a certain way, and it has been successful, then hiring someone with a different philosophy would mean a period of rebuilding. New style, new players, new system.

...or maybe when he tries to grow a beard it just comes out wispy and patchy.

I like the fact that he has a distinct look, in any case.

If he grew a beard we might be landed with a Ten Hag younger-fat-brother lookalike.
No ta.

Make you wonder how many kids who come through top academies and ten don't quite make it, suffer from (mostly unrealised and/or undiagnosed) depression.
I would be it's a disturbing amount.

Its devasting for them and fucking cruel the way they are treated. Mates lad was at Arsenal for years and then got cut, it was brutal. My lad was only 7 when he went to Citys academy, lasted a few months, got cut, walked away from footy, he just lost all confidence, they don't give a shit about the kids. Thousands will have the same story.

That's understandable when you view the entire footballing structure, and I can accept that (especially if there's not much difference between Slot or Amorim) but say hypothetically a few years down the line, Klopp Part II comes along and we have the opportunity to hire, having taken, oh I dunno, Borussia Monchengladbach to a league and Champions League and is a raging success with 3-4-3.

Does the club say 'no thanks' purely because of the formation?

If its an absolutely stand out candidate like Klopp was, then you'd think the club would be felxible. However, the new guy is following one of the best managers in the world and whoever we get isn't yet at Klopps level, so they need to work with what we have. I can see it though that if the new man, Slot or whoever, decides tweaks are needed and proves they work, say going to a 3-4-3, then the club will adapt to suit, but it'll be a gradual controlled process, not a change it now approach.
