I hope she takes down the NRA along with her.

I wonder if at one time Putin will see it in his destructive interests to abandon those he supported and create even more chaos.

I have wondered this for a long time.
Imagine if Putin left the smocking gun in plain sight with his and trump’s tiny fingerprints. Lobbed it into the back of the car so to speak, where it could be easily found by Fox and friends
The repercussions would be immense

Putin must think that Trump is a total pussy. The dumpster fire has done all that he`s done for a couple of hundred million $. Meanwhile Putin has robbed his countries treasury, is working on dismantling the EU & NATO, and is trying to restore the Soviet Empire. Trump just wanted a TV station to prop up his ego and cash to prop up his "business empire".

He really is a lowlife scumbag.

Thatsow he has survived so long. Uses the threat of a long legal battle to drain the opposition.
You need deep pockets to take on his mob.
There was an article linked in here about a former associate of Trump who didn’t back down. He fought them over the Casino fiascos, and they tried the same shit. He wrote a book and they claimed mega damages, and costs running into millions
The guy was able to prove it all and lives nicely in a mansion somewhere warm, because they were actually using shit lawyers whose talent was an illusion.
Familiar?

Pence is a coward,on the odd occasions that he opened his eyes he just stared at his hands and feet
Watched the “debate” on Youtube and this comment made me laugh: “At 6:54 Pence finally offers his contribution. A slight lean to the left as he passes gas after hearing Trump’s order”.

Meng Wanzhou: Trump could intervene in case of Huawei executive

Quote
Donald Trump says he could intervene in the case of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou if it helps to avoid a further decline in US relations with China.

"Whatever's good for this country, I would do," the US president said.

Ms Meng, the chief financial officer of the Chinese telecoms giant, was granted bail on Tuesday by a Canadian court.

She was arrested on 1 December and could be extradited to the US to face fraud charges linked to the alleged violation of sanctions on Iran.

Ms Meng, 46, denies any wrongdoing and has said she will contest the allegations.

Quote
In an interview with Reuters news agency on Tuesday, Mr Trump said he would intervene in the US Justice Department's case against Ms Meng if it would serve national security interests or help achieve a trade deal with China.

"If I think it's good for what will be certainly the largest trade deal ever made - which is a very important thing - what's good for national security, I would certainly intervene if I thought it was necessary," he said.

China to 'cut US car tariff to 15%'

Quote
China has reportedly proposed cutting tariffs on US-made cars to 15%, the same tax levied on car imports from other countries.

Bloomberg reported that China's cabinet will review the plans, which would undo the 40% import duty China imposed on US cars this summer.

The proposal, the timing of which remains uncertain, comes as the two countries restart trade talks.

President Donald Trump said earlier this month China would cut the tariffs.

However the claim has not yet been confirmed by Chinese officials, sowing confusion.

Tuesday's reports in US media, which were based on anonymous sources including a car industry executive, said China outlined the plan on a recent telephone call between top trade negotiators from the two countries.

Bloomberg, which cited "people familiar with the matter", said the step was not finalised and could still change.

The office of the US Trade Representative, which is leading the discussions, did not respond to a BBC request for comment.

In a tweet, Mr Trump said the two sides were having "very productive conversations".

China's commerce ministry confirmed that the two sides had spoken. In a statement it said the conversation concerned "pushing forward the timetable and road map for the next stage of economic and trade consultations work."

Quote
In May, after talks in Washington, the US agreed to hold off on tariff threats, while China said it would reduce the import duty on foreign cars from 25% to 15%.

However that deal fell apart within weeks, after Mr Trump decided to move ahead with tariffs.

In retaliation, China raised the duty on US car imports to 40%, though it proceeded with the lower rate on imports from other countries.

Trump just wanted a TV station to prop up his ego and cash to prop up his "business empire".

That's it in a nutshell. Putin ordered a bit of chaos and division, but when the order came it included the actual presidency. Trump wanted cash and publicity, but he got a real job where the publicity is so great that he can't hide how shallow and corrupt he is. Neither of them predicted Mueller Time.

Jury recommends life in prison for Charlottesville driver

Quote
Jurors say a man who drove his car into a crowd of protesters in Virginia last year, killing a woman, should serve a life sentence plus 419 years in prison.

Following two days of deliberation, a jury recommended on Tuesday that James Alex Fields Jr, 21, also pay $480,000 (£383,000) in fines for his crimes.

Last week, the jury convicted Fields of murder and causing serious injury at the Charlottesville alt-right rally.

He still faces a number of hate crime charges in a separate federal trial.

Fields, from Ohio, was convicted by a Charlottesville jury on Friday of first degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

Heather Heyer, 32, died last year when Fields' car hit a group of people protesting against a white nationalist rally.

In Virginia, juries make sentencing recommendations, but ultimately, a judge must ratify the sentence. WVIR News reported that the judge will formally sentence Fields in March.

During the trial, jurors heard emotional testimony from Heyer's mother as well as others who were injured during the attack.

Wednesday Bowie, a woman who suffered serious injuries including a broken pelvis, told the court "the world is not a safe place with Mr Fields in it", according to the Associated Press.

Quote
Prosecutor Nina Antony showed photos of cars hitting groups of people posted months earlier on Fields' Instagram as evidence his actions were pre-meditated and not motivated by self-protection.

No trial date has been set for Fields' federal trial. It is unclear whether federal prosecutors will seek the death penalty for his 30 hate crime charges.

'Celebrity Apprentice' winner Piers Moron wants to be new Trump chief of staff
William Cummings

WASHINGTON – It stands to reason that if you can stay on Donald Trump's good side long enough to win a season of "Celebrity Apprentice," you would have the right stuff to handle the job as his White House chief of staff.

That's British TV personality Piers Moron's position, anyway.

Morgan told Trump that he wished to "formally apply" for the job in an open letter published by the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

"You might not immediately recognize what qualities I have for such a massive job in your administration, especially following a hugely respected war hero like General John Kelly," Morgan wrote. "But the key thing is to have someone at your side that understands you, has known you a long time, likes you and commands your respect."

Morgan cited the praise Trump gave him after naming him his "first Celebrity Apprentice" in the 2008 season finale.

"'Piers, you’re a vicious guy. I’ve seen it. You’re tough. You’re smart. You’re probably brilliant, I’m not sure. You’re certainly not diplomatic. But you did an amazing job and you beat the h--- out of everybody,'" Trump said, according to Morgan.

And Morgan also pitched himself with a message that amounted to "beggars can't be choosers."

"Nobody else is exactly storming the ramparts of the White House demanding you hire them for the toughest job in world politics," Morgan told the president.

"Why is it considered such a poisoned chalice? Because everyone knows there can only be one chief in the White House, and his name is Donald J. Trump. You’re your own Chief of Staff, and always have been," he opined.

He closed with 10 reasons he should be the next White House Chief of staff:

"You need someone who will look you in the eye and tell you when you’re being an idiot. Seriously."
He would "surround the Oval Office with loyal people who like and respect you, not the type of ghastly, untrustworthy reptiles like Omarosa Manigault Newman."
He would vet Trump's tweets.
He would get the media to focus more on Trump's achievements.
He would be a chief of staff "who gets on with Ivanka and Jared, and encourages you to listen to them as much as possible."
He could bring an end to the war with CNN.
Things are about to get heated with special counsel Robert Mueller. "I love a scrap."
He would "use Melania more. She’s become a very popular electoral asset."
"I’d literally pay to work for you."
"You need someone whose reputation won’t be remotely tarnished by working with you and who won’t mind in the slightest if you suddenly fire him."

‘It’s now or never’: Trump faces a moment of truth on his border wall
David Nakamura

Since the day he announced his White House candidacy, President Trump has wielded calls for a border wall as a political cudgel, a bargaining chip and a rallying cry — a tangible symbol, if completed, of his nationalist aim to “Make America Great Again.”

Now, with time running out to build it, the wall is threatening to become something else for Trump — a drag on his presidency.

Trump’s increasing desperation to deliver on his core campaign promise played out publicly Tuesday during a remarkable televised Oval Office meeting with Democratic leaders during which the president threatened to shut down the federal government this month if he fails to secure at least $5 billion for the project.

The performance stunned a Beltway political class that has grown accustomed to Trump’s daily bouts of showmanship. Once content to blame Democrats for standing in his way, Trump grew visibly exasperated during the contentious 17-minute debate with Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) and House Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and declared that he would accept full responsibility for the fallout.

“I will take the mantle,” Trump said. “I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it.”

Subscribe to the Post Most newsletter: Today’s most popular stories on The Washington Post

For Trump, who once boasted he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose supporters, the fight over the wall has reached a moment of truth as he confronts the reality that, with Democrats poised to control the House in January, this could be his last chance to make good on a promise that has become an existential part of his presidency.

Having already dropped his public vows to make Mexico pay for the wall and issued false claims that parts of the project are well underway, Trump is facing mounting pressure from his conservative base to score a visible win ahead of his 2020 reelection campaign.

President Trump debates with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., left, as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Vice President Mike Pence listen during a meeting in the Oval Office of White House on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 in Washington.
© Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post President Trump debates with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., left, as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Vice President Mike Pence listen during a meeting in the Oval Office of White House on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 in Washington.
“It’s now or never,” said RJ Hauman, government relations director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which supports the wall. “It would be a failure if Trump didn’t dig in his heels to deliver on his signature campaign promise.”

Other influential voices were more blunt. Commentator Ann Coulter, a onetime Trump supporter who broke with him over the lack of progress on the wall, wrote on Twitter that the president holds “all the cards” in the negotiations but put the odds at 50-50 that he would “cave.” In another tweet, she highlighted a Washington Post fact check that punctured Trump’s claims of progress on the wall and added: “Does Trump think his supporters are dumber than a WaPo reporter?”

Democrats, for their part, gloated over their newfound political leverage. In January, party leaders had offered Trump a deal that would have provided $25 billion for the wall in exchange for a path to citizenship for young undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children, known as “dreamers.” The deal collapsed when Trump demanded additional concessions, including deep cuts to legal immigration levels.

Senate Democrats forced a partial government shutdown for three days demanding that the dreamers receive deportation protections in the pending spending bill that month, only to cave in the face of polls showing a majority of the public blamed them for the impasse.

Trump noted, during the Oval Office session, that the Democrats “got killed” politically during that shutdown.

But Schumer and Pelosi stood firm Tuesday, refusing to offer Trump more than $1.3 billion in border security enhancements that they stipulated would not be authorized for a border wall. They also made no mention of the dreamers, who Pelosi said last week would not be part of the negotiations.

“You have called 20 times to shut down the government,” Schumer told Trump. “If we can’t come to an agreement, we have solutions that will pass the House and Senate right now and will not shut down the government. And that’s what we’re urging you to do.”

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Schumer mocked Trump’s “temper tantrum,” while Pelosi told colleagues on Capitol Hill that winning on the wall was “like a manhood thing” for the president.

“He is in political survival mode, and he knows building a wall and trying to give red meat to the far right could maybe save his presidency,” said Domingo Garcia, president of the League of United Latin American Citizens.

Trump, Garcia added, looked discomfited by the new political dynamics of a split government after two years in which Republicans had full control of Congress.

“For some time, Trump has been able to bully people, whether it’s Democrats on Capitol Hill or immigrants at the border,” Garcia said. “And finally people are saying the emperor has no clothes. He’s not really in charge, and he’s really not accomplishing anything or keeping his promises.”

As he campaigned for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections, Trump used his stump speeches to blame Democrats for blocking full wall funding as he inflated how much money his administration has spent on wall construction and upgrades. Campaign aides distributed signs to supporters at rallies reading “Finish the Wall!” even though construction has barely started on any new sections.

But since Election Day, the president has grown more frustrated. Ahead of his meeting with Schumer and Pelosi, Trump declared in a tweet that if “Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall.”

In private talks with the Democratic leaders after reporters left the Oval Office, Trump reportedly tried to convince them that Mexico will ultimately fund the wall by paying higher prices on U.S. goods under a new trade agreement his administration recently signed with Mexico and Canada.

Trump’s desperation was a “moment of honesty on the president’s part,” said Gregory Chen, government relations director at the American Immigration Lawyers Association. “It became clear for him that this is a fight, a battle, about something he wants and is hellbent in getting, regardless of whether it has a real benefit of improving border security.”

Trump’s most ardent supporters remained steadfast. Fox News host Sean Hannity, who had joined Trump onstage during a campaign rally, posted video of the Oval Office confrontation on his website under the headline: “Trump UNLOADS on Pelosi, Schumer.”

But other border hawks said the president has now boxed himself in.

“If he doesn’t at least force a shutdown for some time, I don’t see how he can go into 2020 and blame Democrats” over the wall, said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates lower immigration levels. “Everyone would say, ‘Of course, they are your opponents, but you didn’t really even try.’ ”

Mueller stated last week that due to Cohen's cooperation he wouldn't ask for any additional time on top of what NYSD wanted

Righto so basically with his cooperation he got a reduced sentence which makes sense.

That would provide evidence from them that they were doing it to help Trump win the election. Trump to start attacking National Enquirer as 'fake news' (hahahahahahaha) in 5, 4, 3, 2...

Imo, it's not going to collapse, it's just gonna fester and flake apart into more virtual chaos.

It was built on smoke and mirrors by a few genuinely intelligent people like Manaforte and Bannon, but Poison Pen has used his own style of huckster alpha male mismanagement to destroy the place.

Soon, let's hope only the staff (Christ, what a tale they could tell!) and the Addams Family will be rattling around the WH with Dickhead yelling instructions while Stephen Miller plots his next distraction.

Although at some point, very well paid Republican operatives will arrive laden with an unstenchable supply of industrial turd polish for the campain.

He's currently giving holding a news conference signing an executive order on promoting American 'opportunity zones'.

Ivanka Trump reportedly advocated for a tax break she and Jared Kushner could profit from

The couple pushed for a program that gives tax advantages to investors and developers in low-income areas.
By Emily Stewart  Dec 12, 2018, 1:10pm EST

There have long been questions about the conflicts of interests surrounding Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump in their tenures in the Trump administration. The latest: an investigation outlining how the pair stands to benefit from a tax break they pushed to get passed.

The Associated Press on Wednesday outlined how Kushner and Trump could make money off the so-called “Opportunity Zone” program that was passed as part of the Republican tax bill in 2017. The program is meant to encourage investment in low-income urban and rural communities by giving preferential tax treatment to those who build and invest there.

Kushner and Trump both have significant interests in real estate — and pushed to get the Opportunity Zone program passed.

There’s no evidence that the pair has been involved in selecting any of the current 8,700 Opportunity Zones in the US or has attempted to shape them to benefit from them financially. It’s not known if the projects tied to them will seek the tax breaks. But the potential for them to make money is still there, per the AP:

Kushner holds a big stake in a real estate investment firm, Cadre, that recently announced it is launching a series of Opportunity Zone funds that seek to build major projects under the program from Miami to Los Angeles. Separately, the couple has interests in at least 13 properties held by Kushner’s family firm that could qualify for the tax breaks because they are in Opportunity Zones in New Jersey, New York and Maryland — all of which, a study found, were already coming back.
Ivanka Trump was an especially important advocate of the Investing in Opportunity Act, which was first proposed under the Obama administration but never gained traction then.

She worked closely with Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) on the matter before and after President Donald Trump met with him after racist violence broke out at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. The president reportedly “promised Scott his support for Opportunity Zones as a way to show his administration’s outreach to minority communities,” but Scott had already been speaking with the president’s daughter.

Scott’s communications director said Ivanka was “on board with it” and spoke with the senator about a dozen times. He also spoke with Kushner, but not as much.

Even the president took note of his daughter’s interest in the matter. The AP highlighted a moment in the Oval Office earlier this year when Trump touted the Opportunity Zones program and asked Ivanka to speak, since “you’ve been pushing this very hard.”

It’s not just Cadre, where Kushner now holds a passive stake, that could make money off of Opportunity Zones. According to the AP, several real estate and private equity interests tied to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump and the Trump administration have made plans to create investment funds related to the program.

One of those people is short-lived White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, whose hedge fund, Skybridge Capital, has launched a fund. Megabank Goldman Sachs is also positioned to make money off of Opportunity Funds.

The program itself is controversial: While proponents say it could spur investment in areas developers might otherwise avoid, detractors say it could speed up gentrification and push up prices.

It’s also a good way to skirt taxes: The program lets investors defer capital gains taxes from previous investments until 2026. If they stay invested for at least five years, they get to exclude 10 percent of gains from taxes. If they stay up to seven years, that goes to 15 percent. Capital gains taxes are the taxes paid when you sell an investment.

How much money Trump and his family are making off of his presidency is a central question of this administration
As the AP notes, that there’s no evidence Ivanka Trump and Kushner have had a hand in shaping where Opportunity Zones are or will take advantage of the tax breaks. And Trump’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, said Trump has “divested assets, set up trusts, removed herself from businesses and decisions about her investments.”

But this report speaks to an ongoing question dogging the Trump White House: How much will the president and those around him gain from his position?

Trump has separated himself from the Trump Organization but he hasn’t divested from his businesses, which ethics experts say would be necessary for him to be completely removed. There has been a slew of reporting about how Trump is making money while president. According to a June report from ProPublica, campaigns and government agencies spent more than $16 million on Trump’s properties since the 2015 campaign. Foreign dignitaries and others looking to curry favor with the president appear to have taken a keen interest in spending money at his hotels as well.

Kushner and Ivanka Trump made at least $82 million in outside income while serving as White House advisers in 2017.

The problem isn’t just that money’s being made, it’s also that there’s so little transparency around it. The president’s tax returns, for example, have never been made public, and we don’t know what his involvement in his businesses does and doesn’t entail.

Perhaps Kushner and Ivanka Trump simply wanted to help boost under-invested areas, but given the cloud around the administration already, it’s impossible to tell.

I don't know if this is true, but I am sure someone here will. I read that Vietnam is still a communist country and strong allies of Russia. And that sending people back who joined their enemy in a time of war will be a huge win for them.

Wonder is there any Cubans or Russians who defected during the cold war that he can fuck over too?

Sounds like a dangerous promise to make. What do you do when you need to go to the toilet? When Trump goes to the toilet (or at least decides to relieve himself)? When do you sleep?

@realDonaldTrump

Fake News has it purposely wrong. Many, over ten, are vying for and wanting the White House Chief of Staff position. Why wouldn’t someone want one of the truly great and meaningful jobs in Washington. Please report news correctly. Thank you!

I'm glad that in a moment of sanity, Trump has set a minimum age limit for the Chief of Staff position. You wouldn't want two toddlers in the Oval Office.

This is an interesting thread from Neal Katyal (former US Acting Solicitor General ): https://twitter.com/neal_katyal/status/1072963656516861970

Bottom line of it is that Mueller may have to ask whoever is supervising him to indict Trump because even a refusal to do it means they have to go to Congress and let them know it had been requested.
