He will never be as talented as Messi, but I think under Mourinho he could be even more effective and have more of an impact than Messi does for Barca, which to some may sound ridiculous. I get the feeling watching him that he could score 50-60 goals this season in all competitions if he wanted to. It will be interesting to see how the personal battle between Messi and Ronaldo unfolds during the course of the season.

Yes, I think so. He is still, quite clearly, the second best player in the world imo, and he is an exceptional match-winner, but I've never liked the way he plays the game. Maybe I'm just baised from his days with the mancs, and can't see all that he does, but I think he plays to much for himself (he usually wins the game for his team, so no one cares), doesn't read the game nearly as well as someone like Messi, and he isn't that great a passer. He has some fantastic qualities, and no apparent weakness - except his general behavoir - but he doesn't look a natural footballers in the way Messi, Barnes (saw the 87-88 season review the other day - what a player he was!), Figo and some other great wingers/forwards did/does.
