Yay more opportunities for the lad to get injured. Tell them to fuck off. But well done nonetheless.

Manchester United could win fifty titles, but they will always be the Rolling Stones of football. Good, just not quite that band from Liverpool.

You should literally be skinned for such a fucking daft answer :o

He'll actually get less pitch time than if he was with the U19s or U21s though.

Good luck to him. Brace ourselves for transfer speculation at some stage but to be honest, if he performs to how we hope he can we'd be getting that at some stage this season anyway.

Don't think we should overreact to this news. They probably want him to come and get experience with the squad, learn from the senior players and be a part of an England set-up that he'll be a major player in, in the future. That position, with Downing, Young and Oxlaide Chamberlain all filling the left winger role, is deep enough that I don't expect we'll see him introduced quite so early.

Absolutely gutted.

You've got a 17 year old lad that will have a hugely curtailed career. I'm all for us trying our youth - but he's SEVENTEEN. If he gets played for England now and continues to play for Liverpool in a greater role then his body won't be able to take it.

What are the rules?

Is that him declared for England now, or does he have to come onto the pitch and make an appearance?

They can fuck off too. Sterling needs to be told that Rodgers will build a team around him. He speaks reverently about playing in front of the Kop. I see no reason why we can't tie him down in a long contract. And FSG can fuck off with their Moneyball bollox too.

Brilliant news.

Knew it was gonna happen, Jamaicas coach in the last few days has been sounding him out.  Didnt want him to play for Jamaica expecially with the amount of travelling he'd have to do.

Don't know why everyone is rejoicing about this news. In my opinion, as I said in the main Sterling thread,  it is far far too early for him. Would hate for him to be ruined by the media, fickle fans and expectations that come with being the next England wunderkid, which he surely will be if he features against Ukraine. Look what it did to Walcotts career and the immediate few years after the 2006 world cup.

Yep. He'll play  a few minutes to seal the deal and then hopefully back to the U19 or U21.

There's no point worrying what is going to happen to the lad when he's 25 or so. Maybe he'll do a Ryan Giggs, or maybe he'll be finished by the time he's 24.

The rate he's developing & the way the club is going he wont be at LFC then anyway.

Not being negative, just the way it is.
