Hes gone and the onyl reason he's not sacked yet is youse cant be given the pleasure of another manager being gone after losing to you. the hard truth
I hope not. I think OGS is the best United manager since Wilf McGuinness. I have never seen a United manager come in to such universal acclaim by rival fans and achieve as much as he has for those rival fans. All non-united fans said he was a terible appointment and would achieve nothing. That he would drag out his managerial stint as long as he has is as much to do with the stubborness and delusion of United fans who could not (refused to see) what everyone else could, as the insipidness of the United owners who couldn't care less about how the team plays as long as the monies keep rolling in. They kept funding big money buys despite their questionable fit, because exciting transfers were better than useful ones.
During the summer gone they bought two forwards rather than midfielders or defenders. OGS, who was already more PE teacher than manager, had the unenviable task of trying to field a team where he had Ronaldo, Pogba, Rashford, Fernandes, Sancho, Cavani, Geenwood, Lingard, Martial, DVB, Mata, 11 players to cover 4 positions (front three and AM behind the front three) and Fred, McTominay and Matic to cover 2 positions, DM. The reason they had to use 2 DMs was because the central pillar of their defence, Maguire, was too slow and needed shielding in front on case he got exposed by fleet-footed forwards.
Of the 11 players upfront only DVB, Lingard and Cavani worked to close down defenders. The much vaunted Greenwood and Fernandes barely did any defensive work and Ronaldo is just a goal hanger. It was especially obvious today. Liverpool were able to walk out of defence. There was a n ocean of space between the frontline and the 2 DMs. McFred stood no chance when it was 3 on 2 and the United backline was pried open time and time again. Who tells his team to press without a system? It was shambolic.
