Much better performance than against Brighton although Rangers have offered nothing to test our defence. If only one of those Nunez shots had found its way past McGregor we'd be talking about this one already being over.

More of the same in the second half please, just need to be more clinical.

Really good from us. Trent and Salah excellent.

But really, I love Jota. Did someone say his build up play is poor?

Looking a lot more free flowing tonight which is a good sign though I guess Rangers are below the standard we normally face in the PL. Nunez making good runs and moves finishing rusty but promising considering how stodgy we’ve been this season.

Also we must be the most wasteful team around we need so many chances to score.

Good stuff so far, loving Darwin. In total control, hopefully him and Diogo can get a goal second half, speaking of Diogo, he's lucky his season isn't finished after that horror challenge.

The McGregor saving rangers rhetoric isn’t going to help us

He’s made maybe one good save v Mo. The others were shots you’d bollock a Sunday league keeper for letting in

Much better all round but rather wasteful so far. We should be 2-3 up and cruising. Need to get the second early so we don't invite any pressure later on.

Much better intensity, and far less predictable. Just need to take one of these chances.

I like the look of Nunez, he’s needs a bit more composure at times but that will come.

Me likey this formation, much more fluid up top. Everyone just looks much more relaxed and on it. McShagger having a worldie though, any other night and Darwin at least has a couple.

Better, better, better. More in the second half please.

Good performance so far, desperate for the second goal

Darwin looks pretty sharp with room to stretch his legs, confidence in front of goal is clearly shot to pieces though. Like he's so concerned with getting his shots on target that he's not getting anywhere near the corners of the goal. It'll come if he keeps taking up these positions.

Really good that, albeit against limited opposition.

Number of saves from McGregor but most in the routine column. Sure we’ll create plenty more, hopefully we’ll bury them. Be nice to see Darwin bag a couple

This formation and front 4 every week please. On another day we’re 3 or 4 up and Nunez has a couple. Nunez has been our best player so far, he’s everywhere.

Would be a rugby score if not for McGregor.

Clearly they’re not great but we’ve been sharp and won first and second balls all night. Players look freer in this formation.

Nunez looks super exciting. Once he gets one or two he’ll get a shitload. Those ones being saved now will be in the corner of the net.

Henderson has played some excellent through balls. Great goal from Trent

Hopefully we can bag a few in the second half, they may cave a little if we get one early

Good pressing, good movement and interchangeable across the front line to keep them guessing. They've offered zero going forward but only takes a corner or a set piece to undo our good work. I'd love a second goal

Feels we should be up about 3 by now with the pressure we've applied.

I like the set up.  We don't seem to be any more open than we've been recently and to a man they've been more aggressive challenging for balls and harassing any Ranger trying to make a pass.  Promising.

If we set up like this in the PL we might concede 4 but we could score 5.

Exciting to watch though.  Early goal for us and everyone can breathe a sigh.

Much much better, should 3 or 4 up at HT.

McGregor has always been really good Goalkeeper, only thing stopping it being a massacre as Rangers are pretty dire.

Nunez to bag a couple in the 2nd half.

It's a shape that suits us in for this game with Jota and Diaz both popping up in 'the hole'.  Trent, Hendo and Salah have played some wonderfully incisive passes.

Hopefully we can kick on and get a second as Rangers - well anyone - can always nick one goal.  I don't think they have it in them to score two.

McGregor has been solid but we'd be well served by putting shots in the parts of the goal he's not standing in  ;)

Interesting watch, particularly Mo's role, tracking and filling in centrally when needed. We would need to play a lot better against a decent side though, still a lot of loose balls and poor touches. Diaz looks fantastic again though, need a bit better around him.

This formation suits our squad so much now I think. We have a bunch of players playing 8 who are really 10s or 6s, so this just fits. Firmino, Jota, Elliott and Carvalho can all play 10, and Henderson and Thiago are better deeper.

It is a shame that Henderson ball which found Nunez didn't go in. He was unlucky with that one Darwin.

Front four have got in each others way a few times, even standing on each others toes. But defensively it looks more solid with caveat that Rangers look shite.

Thiago and Henderson have been good. Not sure why there is a different rule for fouls on Salah to everyone else. Both arms around him holding him seems to be ok.

Their yellow was a definite red. No attempt to play the ball, breaking up a promising attack and a nasty raking tackle.

One goal up for all of our possession isn’t good though and at this level you have to take your chances.

I’d like to see Diaz doing more and maybe push Thiago further forward to unlock their defence.

Great goal by TAA.

Jota and Diaz aren’t really working but they are both capable of taking a half chance.

Best we've been since the Bournemouth game, just lacking a couple of goals that we deserve. I like the new shape so far, Trent not bombing forward as much as he used to and there is nothing for them when we give it away.

An early goal second half to kill it please
