Excellent post. The bit about him being a reluctant manager and possibly over-shadowed by being sandwiched between Paisley and Dalglish are quite key for me. As Roy Evans once said "Men have been awarded Knighthoods for winning 3 major trophies in one season!"
Hugely under rated manager, and from all accounts a thoroughly top bloke, like many though, my memory always returns to that sad picture of him at Speke, where he should have been returning with our 5th European cup,which is in shark contrast to the one 12 months earlier by the pool in Rome.
I can't wait to get this book.
