As long as he doesn't play 4 centre halfs we have a chance
Really want to see Gerard and sturridge rested
Would like aspas in the middle and raheem and Ibe either side

If that was the case, we might as well not bother showing up.

Am I reading this right? We are now so good that we can afford to go to Old Trafford and play a 2nd team? C1Cup or not, we play our strongest starting 11 possible for this game. If it was Reading or Stoke or Hull or Swansea then fine, but not UTD, no way. There is absolutely no chance Brendan will rest Gerrard for this. I'll be as gobsmacked as I was when I read he was starting with 4 CB's if he does!

I haven't paid close to £50 for us to turn up and play a bunch of kids. I want us to beat them and trust me when I say that after today, they will do everything to beat us.

Everyone who's calling for a 2nd team would probably be on here at full time after a defeat slagging everything and anything off so lets go there and batter them like city did today and worry about Sunderland next week.

Come on redmen!

A stronger team would be a team full of fresh hungry players,  didn't see that on Saturday. So you play your strongest 11 on paper but a couple have knocks, a few are physically fucking fucked. How does that help anyone?

Mignolet

Kelly - Toure - Sakho - Enrique

Henderson - Allen

Alberto

Suarez                 Moses

Sturridge

Is the side I'd probably play. A well needed rest for Lucas and Gerrard, along with more time to recover for Agger. Would be really interesting to see how Henderson and Allen fair in midfield. They bring a lot of energy in midfield and can press and cover ground well. Doubt Allen would start though with no match fitness.

It'd definitely be tempting to rest Sturridge too, but I think we'd get a lot more use out of Alberto if he has players such as Suarez, Sturridge and Moses ahead of him. It would at the very least allow Suarez and Moses to come a bit shorter and receive the ball, as compared to Sterling as the right winger who recently seems to pick up the ball, run with it and lose it/make nothing out of it.

I'm not that confident after the Mancs result today, they'll be looking to bounce back, and a win probably means more to them than to us in this context, but we need that win too.

Think there'll be a few goals in this personally. 3-2 either way.

This is the perfect way to put the weekend's defeat behind us, by dumping the mancs out the cup and grinding Moyes ginger pube head in to the dirt. I wouldn't be looking to rest players as they shouldn't be tired at all really.

Reckon Suarez will come on from the bench, no way will he start IMO, plus he'll have more of an impact against tired legs.

Mignolet

Toure         Skrtel          Agger              Enrique

Lucas             Gerrard

Henderson            Aspas              Moses

Sturridge

Is how I reckon we'll start it but reckon Suarez for Aspas and Henderson dropping into the middle to make it a 4-3-3 in the second half.

I think Brendan will assess the fitness of the key players and play the best team. If Gerrard does not play it is because his legs are not up for it. Oh, and I think Suarez will start.

The game is too important.

Nothing wrong with Suarez's fitness. Played games for Uruguay and behind closed door games so he's not exactly badly lacking games.

After uniteds performance today which only improved when they went 3 in midfield i fully expect them to start with 3 in midfield on Wednesday. For this game i would do what I thought we should of done at half time on Saturday and gone 3CBs with Alberto in midfield which would of given us an extra man and maybe we could of got a foot hold early in the second half.

              Mignolet

       Toure Skrtel Sakho

Henderson.            Enrique
         Lucas.      Not Sure
                 Alberto
         Suarez.    Sturridge
If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor.

I pretty much agree with that.
Perhaps rest Sturridge (he Looks knackered), play Suarez centrally and either Sterling or Aspas wide.

I'd go with this as well. I really think Gerrard should come off the bench for once, but I just can't see Rodgers not starting him for a game like this.

Let's drag Sander Westerveld out of retirement too. Would be perfect to bring on for Suarez if we need to get serious in this game.

I'll have some of what you're on, on second thoughts no thanks. We better be up for a flying start from United after the way they capitulated against City. That front three would be so lightweight we would be over run.

Resting Gerrard and Sturridge is a no-brainer for me. But I know for certain BR will start Gerrard, and possibly Sturridge too.

Alberto has to play. Allen too if he's fit.

I could see Sturridge rested but there's no way Brendan doesn't start Gerrard. He shouldn't, but he will, especially in this fixture.

After this weekends' debacle for both teams I can see this one being a corker. I know it's United but I really hope Sturridge, Gerrard and Lucas get a rest. All of whom looked absolutely knackered on Saturday.

Think it's going to be damn close, but if I go for anything other than a Liverpool win then I should pack my things up, shove my head up my arse and go support that shite up the road! Let's have them!!

I'm not sure personally, I'd rather we hammer Sunderland on the weekend. Lucas and Gerrard are looking knackered. Rather see us using Hendo, Allen and Alberto in the midfield

After our defeat and the hammering Utd got, I reckon this will be a great game. Perfect time to have Suarez back in action.

I'm keen to see how Moyes approaches this. If they'd have had a better start, he'd probably thrown in some youngsters but I don't think another defeat against a rival is gonna go down too well. I think he's gonna go for a pretty strong team. I can't wait to see Suarez again though. Hopefully, he's raring to go.

Unfortunately I also feel Sturridge and Gerrard need to sit this one out.I'd play Aspas up top as I'm told that's his best position and have Suarez play behind him with Moses and Alberto either side. Henderson and Lucas behind them. Or Alberto behind Aspas with Suarez on the left and Moses on the right. Or sumfink.

I think we should play Uruguayan36 to act as a bit of protection for Suarez in this game. Any of the Mancs come near little Luis, he'll be all over them like Chuck Norris. And at least he'll have someone to celebrate with him if he scores, in case all the other players are still acting like jilted lovers or soft shite kids who've just dropped their last Spangle in dog hair.

The way Brendan went about his selection for the Notts Co game says to me he's not messing around in this Cup this year, that should be down the fact were no longer in europe.

I cant see in anyway him putting out a second string side away at United.

Just been on caught up in a debate on Twitter over this game.

In my mind we play the strongest team possible. We might only play 41 games this season, so there is no reason not to play the best players available to you.

One lad suggested:

@JoesphPepper If youre desperate to win on Wednesday and think winning the league cup is really important, I partially blame you for LFC's lack of success.

The mind boggles.

I'd play Suarez from the start, maybe start him upfront with Sturridge on the bench. Let Luis run himself into the ground for 60 then bring Sturridge on.

Rest Sturridge (if the physio's say he needs it).

Aspas & Suarez to start.
