Regardless of your eye-test on him, we create more shots when he's on the pitch than when he's not. You can't drop him when you need 3 goals. Maybe you'd take him off when you're narrowly leading and you want someone who can chase, press and make the ball stick up front a little more to relieve pressure, but I simply don't understand the strategy of not playing your most shot-heavy footballer when you need to be scoring.

We should have been 2 goals up by half time?

I find it bizarre that Darwin has been at the club less than 2 years, but his thread already has almost half the number of posts compared to Salah's, one of our all time greats, in nearly 7 years  :D

Why is it bizarre? It means that people have different opinions and debate them at length, and it means that no consensus has been reached. Whereas we generally on Salah's qualities.

Agreed completely. There was so much space in that first half last night and the attackers were mostly coming deep to get the ball, so frustrating.

Thank you, I might just do that.

Stick a 6ft 2 fit as a fiddle triathlete in there and ask him to run about a lot and he’d also cause havoc.
But for 75 million, you’d at least expect a good touch. He’s a slightly more polished version of Andy Carroll, and that’s being kind.

He has 3 Premier League goals against teams in the top 10 this season and imo is a big part of the reason we've struggled in big games and will struggle to win the title. Good player but definitely a luxury for us as we're up against cheats and need to be perfect.

He will get another season but I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we will move him on summer 2025 if he doesn't push on further. I think it's clear the fan base are split on him.

The coaches must be as well, he was taken off and didn’t start the last few games.

I think so. I can understand the discussion over variance and all that but unless we get another mo salah in terms of goals from elsewhere then quite frankly, he will need to score more league goals himself.

Thats not to say he hasnt improved, he has and he is still in our best 11 in my opinion. But I think he needs to be scoring more.

Curios to know what a luxury player is. It seems to be in the cliche realms alongside leading the line. The whole team could have been better when we've played top 10 sides.

The coaches are scrabbling around trying to find solutions. And, right now, failing. I wouldn't be reading too much into team selections recently. We'll start looking decent again soon though I reckon. Hopefully starting today.

Must say I'm enjoying going 1-0 up in these games Darwin is starting from the bench.

Joking aside, thought we looked more cohesive than we have for a long time in attack today. Not sure Diaz off the right is doing enough to keep Mo out but Gakpo off the left has the shirt, been our best attacker for a few weeks now (for what that's worth) and Jota obviously is Jota.

Nice to have Darwin as a super sub I'd say.

Summed up everything that's frustrating about him. Comes on, gets the ball in a good position and instead of cutting inside he whacks it first time past the near post. Then squanders another good chance for a goal later on. Sure, it didn't matter this time, but his decision making leaves so much to be desired.

Salahs decision making and quality was great however.

Well done, let's compare Salah, one of our best players of all time who is nearing his end, with a player we supposedly have to count on in the coming years.

Well done in joining the pile on against a player who came off the bench when we've just won a game that keeps our title hopes alive. Let's all wallow in misery ;D

Salah has created the most big chances of any player in the division this season despite spending weeks away at AFCON. So, I'm going to cut him a little more slack. He's still sucked in the aftermath of every AFCON though.

Mo overhit that pass. The only way Darwin gets on the end of that is if he starts sliding before Mo plays it.

Fucking insane the traffic in this thread, considering he played 20 mins in a 3-1 win.

We win so nothing to moan about in the match thread.
