Buying a car outright from a dealer usually prompts a nice acting performance from them which is an act of utter horror at the thought of doing that and not getting it on finance. Maybe they serve some benefit if you plan on buying new cars every few years from that one manufacturer but realistically it serves their purpose far more because they dont want you to buy one car from them but several cars over time.

Looking for a new car for my bird.

Need something for 2 young kids - one 2 and one on way. Thought about small SUVs like Antara, Qashqai and Kuga but dont seem to get much for the money. She doesnt want a massive people carrier but something with easy access at a decent height so not too much bending down, decent size boot. Also ruled out Mokka, Jukes for not being big enough

Currently got a Clio so something much bigger than that with 4/5 doors.

Prob looking to spend 6-9k - wont be doing a lot of mileage so happy to take a petrol especially over a diesel with dpf as doubt she'll be going far enough often enough to avoid problems with that.

Only thing we can come up with is a Zafira or C-Max but looking for options

Friends of ours have got a 12 plate Meriva, hardly bigger than our Astra, quite spacious inside and has suicide doors, great for getting the kids in/out.

The older shaped Meriva is fucking rubbish.

I've got a '55 plate one that I'm running until it shits itself come MOT time,

It does a genuine 58MPG (tank 2 tank fill up) and will outrun any car below 175bhp round the Scottish roads I frequent.

It's the most uncomfortable vehicle I've ever sat in. It goes thrugh front tyres in less than 12k miles. I need to replce the drop links every year.

Love hate type of car.

If it had the same kind of seats in it, and was as reliable as my V70 then it would be ace, but it isn't.

But my Volvo does 30MPG not 58.

Hey ho.
13mins - Bournemouth have gone home. Utd kicked off anyway. Still 0-0 as Smalling passes it back to De Gea.

Went for a test drive in the new TT today and fell in love with it.  Beaut to drive and the cabin is pretty much the best I've ever sat in. Replacing my A3 soon and torn between being sensible with an A3 Saloon and maybe getting a cheapish second-hand Z4 as a weekend car, or just getting a TT and basking in that interior every day.

Just got for me daughter a brand new Ford Fiesta Zetec 3dr, 1.2 (82bhp), fully kitted, alloys air-con etc -  for Ł97 a month!

24 month contract with new car option at this price, or walk-away, guaranteed!

Slightly chuffed for her and me, at the minute.

Nice one CHOPS.

I might have to look into buying a second car in the coming weeks.

Would have to decide if I want a small car like a fiesta/fiat/golf or if I want another Subaru.
I watched a YouTube video and decided that Paul Konchesky looked like a player.

Plate changes at the end of this month, so some dealerships trying to shift some cars sharpish. Could be worth looking into it sooner rather than later.

That would be sensible but alas, I live in the states, and the only time the price goes down like that is around December/January when the new models come out and last years styles get a reduction.

Likely I shall buy a second hand car from a dealer, a former company car seems a good bet.

This is an old model, but thank you for concern pertaining to my automobile.

It is not as nice to look at as my Outback I will give you that but it is still better looking then some of the other drab about.

I've just googled Subaru Outback and have concluded you have appalling taste in what constitutes a good looking car. Still, they're reliable aren't they?

Personally I like them, but yes they are super reliable, I have driven my first two into the ground, and these two I plan on doing much the same.

The AWD helps in the Midwest winters to which I am burdened with yearly.

They are also a bit noisy, given the boxer engine.

Still, while I would love a vintage 1961 Alfa Spyder convertible, it is not on the cards as of yet.

And my missus refuses to give into my childhood dream of a delorean.

Haha.

I was driving a Juke for 3 months in California this spring,I thought it was alright,i only used it to drive up to to some local mountain biking trails a few miles away (With bike rack on the back).

Can see why they are popular though.
