That is not even close to true. I'm almost positive if you got his last 10 pens, not one of them would be above halfway up...

Kuyt's stepped up to the plate enough times to warrant another chance, should the situation arise. Remember his pens in the derby a few years ago, and his one at the Emirates last season? Spectacular penalties.

The truth is, he found the corner with that penalty and Howard made a fantastic save.

Yeah, Howard even faked like he was going the other way right as Kuyt was about to take it. Great stop for him to get across and cover the bottom corner.

i was surprised not to see Charlie Adam take the penalty against Sunderland and also thought he was going to take it against Everton on Saturday, i feel that the next penalty we get has to be given to him.

Yep, the real question is who's third choice, Adam or Suarez?

While both Stevie and Dirk missed their last pen, we scored from the preceding 20 Gerrard efforts, with a couple of rebounds, and the other 8 of Dirk's. Both are excellent from the spot.

Look at the pens that Kuyt took in the 2-1 win at Woodison some years ago, both in the identical spot he placed it Saturday , Howard got to the 2nd one that day but couldnt turn it round the post, fantastic save Saturday but he did have a very good idea where it was going.

Kuyt still takes them for me very good record and cool as ice

The old Gordon Banks trick. In friendly matches I used to take turn in goal and I saved a lot of penalties just by using this trick; keep your weight on your right side and sway to the right and then dive left.

Have to say I assumed that when we bought Adam that he would be first choice, but the pen we got against Sunderland (?) was taken by Suarez (and missed) and I think Adam was on the pitch then.

this.. Wether you have a great shot or not doesn't matter at all in terms of penalties. It's all about nerves. I'd like to see us put one in the middle for once.. I myself always put it to the right but whenever someone slots it down the middle they always seem to go in. Granted, if any of our players tried it, that would probably be the one time the GK stays in the middle.

Not really a question that needs to be asked. If Gerrards on, its him. Kuyt has been a great second choice and I see no reason for that to change, it wasn't a bad penalty on Saturday, have to give Howard credit of a good save. I'm sure Adam would make a great third choice.
Gerrards record is second to none especially in the really high pressure moments, when it's do or die, ala Arse in the Euro Cup a couple of seasons ago. I never doubted him for a second and he buried it beautifully, under massive pressure cause if he missed we were quite possibly out.
