Is Sakho the new CB punching bag? I think I find it more bizarre because unlike
constructive criticism over Skrtel's tendency for offsides, or lingering concerns over Lovren's horror start to last season, there really is not much to consistently lay at his plate. There always is some line like "he makes x amount of mistakes a game." Oh really? Yes, he gets beat at times at various moments of play, but everyone does. If he just punted it long all the time, I guess that would make him better for some people? I can only imagine their feelings when he chested the ball in the box tonight. haha
Sure, he has not been at his stellar best in the last few games (Utd aside), but people don't have a clue if you are blaming him for their goal. Same would be said for Lovren, Skrtel or anyone else. More of a bonus if you can block that cross after having to pull wide to cover when your LB puts in a poor challenge and shows no hustle to get back. Plus it was offsides, plus there was no LB. No idea what he or anyone could of done better there, unless you have the speed of Ilori or something.
Also did a pretty good job doing something he supposedly can't against a much taller player - head the ball. (Which is no doubt something he can improve on - his performance against Giroud must still give him nightmares) And that ball drop moment. Regrettable, but if you've ever played - those happen between players. So what? Anyways, hope he can get a rest because he looks to be not 100% fit anyways. Still a fighter who is putting his body on the line, making forward runs and trying to pump up the crowd in ET!
Not sure what standard people have of a CB, especially one with an awol LB and a CB partner who is kinda just "there." Can't wait till Lovren gets back to get that partnership going again.
Highlights of the game.
The 4th official having to hold Klopp back from bollocking Moreno.
Benteke's & Allen's penalties.
Big Mig's stops. Fair play for coming up big!
Also, it is clear the team is tired. Not every game is going to be a masterclass.
We are going to Wembley. End of!
