Update also seems to have fixed the dreaded WiFi freeze
"You have to admire animals. Hamster spun round in a wheel three times bigger than him and abruptly lands on his back. Then just gets up and carries on as if nothing happened! If that was a human he'd be helicoptered to hospital, off work for 6 months have back issues for 20 years and then start legal proceedings against the wheels owner"

I've updated to ICS over the weekend and am now running 4.0.4

Very happy overall with it, one thing that is annoying me is the font size on he email, there is an option to enlarge/reduce in there but the smallest is still way to large. The font in the contacts section also seem way too large. I can't find an option in the main settings of the phone to reduce the whole phone's font size so I'm baffled to how to change it. Any ideas RAWKites?

Since the ICS update at the weekend, I can't log into my work wifi, home is fine.

Tried forgetting and rescanning, tried adjusting many other settings, anyone got any ideas?

I'm updating my dad's S2 for him, the first time I've attempted this for a Samsung phone.

Do I have to register for a Samsung account or is there a way around this? Seems like an unnecessary step, hopefully I can bypass it.

how you download it?  Kies is saying it up to date (the phone is saying Android 4.0.3) and Tmobile website does not have it.

dont need to use kies

applications > settings > about phone >software update

Turns out it is just the same, if i use the S2 to browse go on apps etc the battery drains in half a day. Its very poor for battery life.

It disappears due to the original ICS update I think, Kies only after that!!

Anyone know where I can get my hands on one of these for a decent price? If I can get one for around £200.00 all in I'm happy. £250.00 contract.

I currently am on 12 month sim only contract with 02 and get 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 100mb data for £10.00. Not prepared to switch networks though

It's USA only unless you have a rooted phone. Maybe the latest software as well.

For the past few weeks whenever I plug my phone into Kies, I get told there's a firmware upgrade available. I follow the instructions on screen, it gets as far as about to start the update when I get a pop up that says "notice" and then loads of what look like chinese symbols, without understanding what on earth it says, I click OK and end up back at the screen telling me there's a firmware upgrade available. Any ideas what I can do to sort it?

Having a nightmare with mine at the moment, wasn't charging properly or holding charge, on investigation on google it seems that it's a common fault and it's the USB port at the bottom that needs changing. I got brave, ordered the bit off ebay and replaced it myself, quite an easy job really. I now have no signal, have changed the board again, again no signal, going to have to get it repaired properly, at great expense.

I recently got a Jelly bean firmware update...battery started to drain very quickly, as in fully charged battery would last about 10 hours with next to no use. It turns out that the update effected the location (Google) service and prevented the phone from going into deep sleep. So I turned all location settings off and all is ok again. Feckin updates huh?  ???

Samsung. Sometimes I find it drains in seconds, when an app, normally co-pilot crashes. Also noticed that since the last firmware update, I'm getting a lot more crashes and data roaming seems to untick itself a lot, also having issues with the gps not being able to determine position. This probably down to data switching itself off and power-saving being on. Bit of a shit firmware upgrade.

I had all those issues and more with my Galaxy II since the last firmware update. Wish they'd just left it alone. I had no issues before.

That said I am getting a HTC one tomorrow so Galaxy II will be chucked in a drawer as a spare then.

Re the replacement battery – I brought a new “Samsung” one off the net (eBay I think or Amazon) and anyway the package was a bit weird and the battery sticker was not straight. So almost certain it was moody. Anyway, the battery was actually OK. But found it did get quite hot quite quickly depending on what I was using the phone for. If you want a proper Samsung one I’d get it from a shop in the UK because Fake Samsung products are being sold as Genuine Samsung products.

thanks.  Regarding the firmware upgrade, I noticed kies is saying another fireware is available again, not sure if that fixes those crashes.  The one before the latest update, keep crashing my phone and when i re-start the battery drained to 15-20% and then i notice the value goes up by a couple % after an hour or so.  Very weird...

I had some odd battery issues, like apps crashing and then full drain.

I looked at the battery itself and there was a slight bloating in it. As if its had some kind of leak or explosion / expansion inside?

Swapped for generic battery and all well since.

Mine was crashing a lot after the last update but got an update last week Jelly bean 4.2 i think and it works great now.Not 1 crash.Anyone recomend another music player other than the stock 1s that will play whatever you chuck at them?got around 5 songs that wont play as they are wav files.Downloaded winamp which plays them but did'nt like the layout, ease of use.
