Empty seats are totally a normal thing at every club.

Only who's top on the last day of the season matters.

That is true.

But it's rare a side stays outside the top all season and only wins in on the last day.

The above stat shows we've been in the race all season.
Either we are a club of supporters or become a club of customers.

They had to work harder than they have in the whole of March, Brighton at least put up a fight 2nd half. This is now where it gets to City. Last March (like this March) they strolled through their games. Yet as soon as April came and they had 3 high intensity games, us (twice) and United. They didn’t know what had hit them and lost all 3. The thing they had last year though is they’d all but mathematically won the league by then and could get away with the drop in form.  The high intensity is about to hit them again now with Spurs twice plus United and add into the fact they’ve got to win their other league games as well, because the league is far from won. This where it gets to them now! Probably once in Peps career has he been in this situation with Barca and Madrid getting something like 101 and a 100 points, but the other games in that league aren’t as intense. He has normally won the league by now and was what he was planning for again this year but we just aren’t letting go. Something is going to give with them soon!

I get what you're saying, but I'm tired of us being in the race though.  I want us to win the race.  I still have traumatic memories of 88-89, not to mention 08-09.

We seem to be the team that sets those precedents of doing so well and yet still coming away with nothing, so stats like those are pretty meaningless to me.

I don't want Liverpool to be the first team to spend the most time at the top of the table and still not win the bloody thing.  Like I said, I don't care if we only top the table on one day of the season, as long as it's the last day of the season.

Agree! First team to get over 80 points and not win the Prem, because we came up against what would become Arsenal’s invincibles. I just hope and pray we don’t become the first team to get over 90 points and..........well you know

It’s like when it’s us in the race it just seems to raise everyone’s level to stop us winning it

Feels like that too.  I'm avoiding the APLT and Chasing the Title threads until the end of the season.

I don't want us to be the team this season to spend the most time at the top of the table without winning the league - or the first team to only lose one game all season and not win the title.  Those are bull crap records to hold.  Leave Everton to have the pointless "firsts". ;D

Said before but worth repeating, I don't think they were all that "nice" a club at all in retrospect.  They were just the beaten down ugly duckling football club of their city and they'd just learned to 'know their place'.  They knew their limitations and had just accepted that they were probably always going to be a bit of a yo yo club - at best a stepping stone or feeder club for the big boys.

Since they got lucky they've been like the little nerd in school who always gets his face pushed in by the bullies, who suddenly gets super powers.  All that bitterness that even they probably hadn't realise they had has come out and they've turned into complete tw@ts.  They desperate to kick sand in the faces of everyone they feel used to do it to them.  They've had almost their entire existence feeling patronised and now they just want everybody to adore them.

It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

A CL final with empty seats... how fucking embarrassing would that be?

UEFA will probably give them a relatively small allocation so they can gift the difference to the corporates - they've got City's number.

what a bunch of weapons this lot are, the fans, the players the whole shabam.  They don't even act like a big club, pure and utter hypocricy, self entitled, deluded whoppers.  Hope we beat these to 2 trophies this year. Yes i wouldl take one trophy but beating  them to two would shut  this lot up once and for all.  We would take them down a peg or two and they may never  recover (with us) from it. All that money spent, the best  players, best manager  in the universe (ever), financial doping, easy tie's in cup games, the whole lot and if we still beat them, then there is a markerlaid right  there for the next 5 years or so.

Everton behaviour. I'd almost argue worse, considering they are actually successful, yet still they are bitter and have an inferiority complex when it comes to the big clubs. After all, they aren't even the biggest club in their own city;D

Your Arabs can buy most things, but there are some things they can't buy - class, tradition and history.

Actually they are, technically they are the only club in Manchester - Utd are actually in Trafford, the boundary for the City of Manchester is about a mile away from OT, which is like when the bitters were supposed to move to Kirkby.

One thing about the Arabs, they must have always known they would need to fiddle the attendances and income, as they have priced a lot of fans out of the game by whacking the seat prices up. My neighbour is mid 80's and until they put the prices up, he was a season ticket holder, he went to every home game, reduced to watching on telly now.

Seen the prices and the sales city have put on home tickets this season in the cups (including CL) surprised if anyone paid over £30 for a ticket.

Don't know how any of them can use that excuse.

I'll have to listen to local radio next few days, they'll be offering tickets this week.

Listened to Georgie Bingham and Tony Cascarino trying to defend City not taking up its full allocation at Wembley, what with the Champions League, League Cup, FA Cup and Premier League matches to attend being too many matches to attend. Funny, it hardly ever has a full house anyway at any of the matches. All which confirms it’s a small time outfit bankrolled by a sovereign wealth fund.

Exactly, that is the reality of what City are were al will always be. As someone said to me in the Chasing the title thread, which I am well aware of, they draw most of their support from the poorer areas of Manchester, Beswick, Miles Platting, Gorton, Moss Side are not the best places to live (ironic as the c*nts sing sign on and feed the scousers) , so they will struggle to afford it. However, they don't get sympathy because they give it the billy big bollocks and they sing about us being poor.

Hang on.  We were told that the reason the reason for the empty seats against Cardiff was because there was a Wembley semi-final on the Saturday and people couldn’t afford/be expected to go to both.  Then there empty seats and Wembley anyway.  So now it’s “too many games to go to”. But there’s always empty seats.

Did they know months ago that there were going to be loads of games?  Do different people sit the game out each week and, in effect, everyone goes to 40 odd games each?

So many questions.

The 'can't afford tickets' argument is bollox. Every club has people who can't afford to go to most games. Most fans couldn't afford to go to that number of games.

They just don't have the numbers. City fans get defensive about this because it exposes the lie of their commercial income. All those phony sponsorship deals with companies who apparently want to spend hundreds of millions advertising to a small, provincial fanbase who struggle to fill Wembley on a Cup semi-final day.
