It's weird how no one is in here wanting him re-signed after 6 games of not doing anything

A quick look at a Villa forum suggests that the majority no longer want him permanently, especially at the wages he would command. Complaints around him being too inconsistent, not contributing defensively and disappearing in games, especially away from home.

Coutinho can mess any team up on his day. I actually believe he'd rather not do it against Liverpool, but maybe that's romantic. Against City however he will be both provoked and inspired.

We will need to strike a special winner's medal for both him and Steven Gerrard (and possibly Ings as well).

Think he's delivered what he was destined to do there, not necessarily much. Certainly a clever loan signing for 6 months but surely not one you'd spend big money on given the fact he's 30 in the summer. He'd be best suited going to Serie A imo, if anyone can afford his wages.

Half the people in this thread thought we needed to resign Coutinho. Some of them still think he’s world class!

Why the bitterness remains with this guy when we didn't lose a single step after his departure always confuses me.

Do people need reminding what his sale enabled us to bring in? Yes he was a c*nt for his 'back' but he won't be the first to do that nor will he be the last.

At best he sees his career out at a Newcastle type club and we will go on to win more trophies.

Villa are not currently that good, that they would say no to Coutinho for around 20 million Euro. He should be good for 12-14 goals and will help their strikers too.

Law averages, non-existent as it may be, suggests that Coutinho will be due some direct goal involvements in his next game after such a drought. Form is temporary, class permanent. Coutinho has always been one of my favourite players, whatever I may have said about him in the past.

I also think Gerrard is an astute football manager too, the perfect man to inspire Phil to perform before the summer break. It should help that Awful Coufal doesn't play for Villa.
