Would love to see him take it.  Brighton are very well run.  Playoffs 2 years in a row with 2 different managers, shows there is stability in the club and a level of skill behind the scenes.

Hopefully he will get the chance to shine.

Plus Brighton seem to be quite a well run, forward thinking club these days.
Good club to go to. Very good set up. Good set of players there and good infrastructure at the moment.
Would love to see him take it.  Brighton are very well run.

2012. Turnover £22.1m  Costs 30.7m.  Loss of 8.6m
2013. Turnover £23.3m  Costs 38.0m.  Loss of 14.7m.

Strange what gets called "well run" these days.

Would be made up to see him back in England again but as other has said it would be a step down in terms of his career.

To say they just recently built and moved in to a brand new stadium, I'd say those losses are pretty good.

In all seriousness, really?  Their wages in 2013 were 90% of turnover and they'd increased the wage bill by over 40% on the previous season - their income had grown by 5%.

Their expenses have got nothing to do with the building of a new stadium, as it was the increased capacity which enabled them to reach the turnover levels they're showing. To then spent practically the entire turnover on player wages was just a throw of the dice to try and get promoted - that gamble has failed twice already.

Gives me a team to follow in the Championship if he gets the job.

Yeah, at this stage of his career its probably as much about figuring out what not to do and getting as much experience as possible, an apprenticeship as such. Just look at the very early careers of the likes of Benitez and Rodgers, littered with as many downs as ups, relegation fights and dismissals. This should be good for Hyypia and it would be great to see him at Anfield for a cup game next year.

Brighton have reached playoffs in last two years so the minimum requirement will be top 6 but they're really eager to win promotion and start using PL towards stadium and training ground expansion.
It will be very difficult as Norwich, Fulham, Cardiff, Derby are all in better position to do so plus there's always a surprise team or two in there as well.
If he misses out on promotion not to mention top 6 then it will be very damaging to his career rather than going somewhere safer where expectations aren't high and by exceeding them he can become a hero.

I'm not sure whether top 6 will be minimum, they absolutely scraped it (90th minute winner) to get 6th last year and then got tonked by derby in the playoffs. Also they only built the stadium recently, I doubt they're going to expand yet, it didn't even sell out for their play off games.

Hyypia has to take jobs that are challenges if he wants to make it as a top manager and Brighton is perfect for it IMO

They are well run in a sense though. They may not be making money but they have a cohesive strategy and are doing things right, playing good football and so on.

Good move for him, Brighton are a very 'continental' club compared to the rest of their Championship counterparts, and Hyypia will enjoy working with players with some decent technical quality.

Very capable of achieving promotion, and can form a link with Liverpool and possibly be a feeder club for players such as Wisdom, Teixera.etc because of Hyypia's connections.

No chance of Borini or Assaidi going there. Assaidi will be sold, and Borini's far too good for the championship.

Think Ibe would be a perfect fit if Hyypia wants to utilise his relationship with us. Hyypia got a lot out of Sidney Sam didn't he? Ibe is a similar sort of player in that he's a very quick winger, good dribbler, and can get goals.

Ibe did well with limited game time at Birmingham last season. I think given a full season with a manager who has faith in him, he can be easily as good as the likes of Moses, Ince, Zaha, Sinclair, Dyer etc have been in the Championship over the last few seasons.

I don't know much about Brighton as an area, just what I read on the interwebzzz. Tourist spot with nice beaches, right? Is it considered a good location to live in? Seems it from my little bit of reading. Clue me in RAWK!  :)

Brighton & Hove Albion are delighted to announce Sami Hyypia's appointment as first-team manager, having agreed a three-year contract with the former Finnish international.

The new Albion boss said, "I am absolutely thrilled by this appointment; Brighton & Hove Albion are an ambitious club and I am very pleased to have been given this opportunity.

"I've held extensive talks with the chairman Tony Bloom and chief executive Paul Barber. I have looked at the club from top to bottom and I am very impressed by what I've seen at all levels.

"I've seen the Amex Stadium and the club's new training ground and they are amongst the best I've seen anywhere in the world. I've also already met some of the key staff including Nathan Jones, the club's head of football David Burke, and Dr Helge Riepenhoff, head of medical and sports science, and I am very much looking forward to working with all of them.

Brighton is a fantastic city. The equivalent for you guys would be San Francisco or something like that. Extremely liberal, has a working class history but is now increasingly populated by commuters from London (often people working in media). Has some of the best nightlife in the country and has a good core of independent specialist businesses etc. The club was terribly run for years and famous for having possibly the worst stadium in league football but has got its affairs in order now.
