Arkham Trilogy coming to Switch, I've bought them for every other console, so why not...

Shame they weren't very specific about the release date of the new wave of Mario kart content. I need more tracks!

Liked the look of the new side scrolling Mario too, I'm looking forward to playing that and the Sonic game with the missus.

New Mario 2d looks excellent.

Would have liked a new 3d Mario game though.

Donkey Kong seems to have been lost from Nintendo.

Reckon next year may be the last year before a new console comes out, I guess they'll want a new 3d Mario game at launch with that.

Some rumours even suggesting a Q4 announcement for the Switch 2.

Need new replacement joycons, should I stick to Nintendo or are there good other-brand ones? They’re a lot cheaper and I’m skint.

Nintendo fix the joy cons for free you know. I sent mine back a couple of weeks ago and got them back in about 7 days

Ha, I did that twice and they came fixed for a while then broke again.
Got some brand new Nintendo ones for my birthday in the end.
Can’t believe I played 70% of my favourite game ever (Zelda) with two drifting joycons.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks fantastic. A great twist on the traditional Mario platformer. Can't wait for it

Nice new Mario Edition Switch as well but I'm waiting for the Switch 2 (whenever that is)

There were rumours of the next console being shown behind the scenes to developers at Gamescom, next winter was the logical thought for release, but I’m wondering if they’re maybe pushing for that spring release again. Would mean a reveal would be needed imminently, mind.

Although there’s not much other hardware seemingly on the way for the next 12-18 months, so there’s no need to rush it.

Can anyone briefly list the pros\cons of download vs physical media?  My daughter would like the Animal Crossing: New horizons , the download seems to be half the price of the physical media.  I assume the main difference is you need more space on your switch if you have the download.  But we have a fairly hefty SD card in there already.

For me the main difference is being able to trade, lend or sell the game.

Games that I know I’m going to want to play for years or never get rid of, I’m happy enough to buy digitally. Or games that cost less than a tenner so aren’t worth the hassle of selling. Games which I think I’ll play through once and sell, I’ll usually buy physically then sell on EBay or at CEX. Have had a few I’ve lent to mates (or others I’ve borrowed). You can usually get 70-80% of the value of a new game on EBay.

You also can’t lose or damage a digital game of course, in a way you can with physical copies. And it’s easier to take them with you (though my switch case has a place to put 8 game cartridges in). I don’t think that there is any difference in terms of technical aspects or performance.

Thanks JK, resale is a really good point. She's mine now . I suspect she'll be addicted till she goes to university so I do t need to worry about resale here 😀

Yeah resale is my main consideration when buying physically. I got a disc drive on my PS5 as I know it will eventually pay for itself in terms of re selling games I’ve bought.

Enjoy AC ;D

Wonder is a truly fantastic game, old school Mario with a sprinkling of Mario Maker creativity on top.

Plays a little like Rayman Legends, which I loved.

Don't say that, I'm trying to hold off on buying this!! I've just picked up Rayman Legends on the Switch for £5.99 to replay it and I'm having an absolute blast with it again

I might have to get Wonder once I've finished it. I've heard nothing but amazing things

Yeah on the eShop. Was on sale so don't know whether it'll be there still but for £6 I couldn't say know despite already having it on the Xbox. Perfect game to pick up and do a level or two when watching something

The epitome of “just one more level…”

Picked up Obrad Dinn and Dredge on sale, they both look interesting.

EDIT: Just 100%-ed Mario. Wonderful stuff.

Hi,
I can't find any reviews of Hogwarts Legacy for the switch.  Some info that there are loading screens that destroy the open world feel of the game. My daughter is quite into HP so I'm lining it up for an xmas gift.
Is it a Rowling backlash preventing reviews or something else?

Just finished Super Mario Wonder which was a lovely game! My 4-year-old took control of Yoshi (no enemy damage) on some easier levels and started to slowly get the hang of some of the basic controls (e.g, moving and jumping simultaneously)  ;D

Might go collect the remaining wonder seeds and flower coins now, but I also have Hogwarts Legacy waiting for me which I can't wait to try out.

From what I can tell, the consesus seems to be that everyone is surprised how well the Switch version was ported  :)

If I wasn't that keen on BOTW, will I like TOTK? In what ways is it different?

I loved the art style and innovation of BOTW, but hated how hollow it felt at times. Also disliked the lack of variety in terms of dungeons etc.

If I'm being honest, I doubt you'd like TOTK if you didn't like BOTW. It's very, very similar but with crafting!

I’m 15 hours into it on my Switch and it plays marvelously!

Only drawback I’ve experienced so far are the loading screens when you want to enter a shop in Hogsmeade.

The game is massive and very immersive. There’s loads to explore and the combat system is quite cool!

Ignoring the JKR stuff and just looking at it from a gaming perspective, it’s really worth getting.

Cheers ee.
I read there's a patch out now that fixes hogsmeade loads.
Trying to buy it at a decent price seems somewhat hard to get!

I just checked - and you’re right! The loading time has roughly been cut in half (from about 20 seconds down to 10 s).

The Switch successor seemingly pushed back to Q1 2025 from it's Autumn 2024 internal release date:

I’d actually had it in my head that pretty much all of their consoles released in Spring, but the Switch was the outlier apparently. All sorts of rumours doing the rounds, backwards compatible I read last week and a hardware specific Direct next month to unveil it.

Take it all with a pinch of salt though, as I’d read so many Switch Pro rumours that wound up being nonsense.

Eurogamer also hearing it from their sources. Nintendo told 3rd parties it won't be out until Q1 2025
