and in the end, homer at the bat would win

Well At the Bat had done it

The episode had won it

With RAWKy posters quoting all the while

Sideshow Bob's rake adventures split our sides

While lots of people voted for Simpson Tide.

We're talkin' Simpsons

From Rosebud to Fallout Boy

Talkin' Simpsons

Unkie Herb to Lemon of Troy

Frank Grimy was Homer's Enemy

Burnsy and his run-in with Maggie

We're Deep Space Homer

B-Sharps and Mindy.

If I were a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides.

I think a Simpsons draft could be fun ;D

Pick your team of five Simpsons characters. Or five Simpsons episodes. As Joff says, the problem with a World Cup is that Homer At The Bat, You Only Move Twice or Cape Feare would all be strong favourites. Making people pick a team of Simpsons characters or a set of episodes would balance it out a bit.

Homer, Lou, Dr Nick, Herb Powell and Bleeding Gums Murphy vs Troy McClure, Mr Burns, Lenny, Apu and Groundskeeper Willie

Then you can use the Betting and Drafts board and nothing gets clogged up.

I like the way Snrub thinks.

Homers Enemy

See, three of us with three different opinions.

Actually JK, could you edit the first post and put in a poll for all S1 episodes, we will take the top 2, then after a week S2 etc. Then the final poll gets its own thread. Similar to how there always seems to be a poll in the politics thread? Do we need Andy?

To paraphrase - He's not the hero RAWK deserves, but the one it needs right now.

I know someone up thread was limiting to season 10, but I do think The Computer Wore Menace Shoes from season 12 is actually a rather strong episode.

Yeah, i think that’s fair, there still some very good episodes in 11-15 but they become fewer and further between.

Thanks to the series ranking that's going on, I have started rewatching the series and so today was Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song.

When Ned takes over as principal it shows a flashback to his youth and his dad calls the woman who is, presumably, his mother (sure we see her again in a later series) and calls her Mona, meaning that both Homer and Ned's mothers have the same name.

In terms of importance it is a big old fuck all but it then just tickled me that you could have a Batman v Superman type moment of bonding for them over the mother's names - although with how "well" that was received maybe not

It isn't a great episode (has some good lines) but I watch the 'This Log Is Your Log' song from Lisa the Treehugger once a week.

Top work here Jake, this has really revitalised the quoting of The Simpsons, and most of it never fails to make me smile.

It's also made me realise how much of it I've incorporated into my own lexicon:

I always refer to filling up as getting 'petroleum distillate.'

In Season 7, Home-Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodly, Flanders is trying to teach Bart and Lisa bible stories through a game and they guess Jesus as an aswer: 'Je, Jesus!' I always exclaim that.

'Stupid babies need the most attention.'

'Why won't you shut up. I can't believe you don't shut up.'

'Legend of the Dog-faced woman.'

It goes on and on. A pop-culture phenomenon where if you look at Seasons 3 - 8 in isolation, you have maybe the best sitcom of all time for me.
“Seeing these smiling faces is the greatest pleasure. They have been magnificent all season. They have been our 12th man. I have always said our fans are the best in England. Now I know they are the best in Europe too.” Rafa Benitez

Cheers pal I'm enjoying it, takes about half hour to make each poll and now and again I've gone to youtube or disney+ to make sure its in the episdoe I thought it was (unless it's an obvious one or a long one I just cut and paste) but at times I've found myself chuckling away just thinking of lines.

Should have our result by the end of Feb. I wonder how much the non Simpsons fans (heathens) are hating me clogging up the board ;D

Got 2 days in Facebook Jail for commenting on a Simpsons meme group post with a version of "I'd kill you if I had my gun! Yeah well you don't."

This adds to the day I had in jail in summer for quoting the Mike Bassett "2-0 down to the fucking Mexicans!" line.

That place really needs context fed into its AI.
