I'm 27 days in to my cancellation period & haven't heard off them. They did ring once but couldn't speak so me cause it was in the wife's name. I don't want to cancel but the deals they offered me were dreadful considering I've been there 20+ years and have 5 boxes.

Thinking of ringing up now and ordering it in my name as a new customer? Anyone see any problems with that.

It was in the wife's maiden name originally so there are no issues there.

Will be no issues mate.

You'll find about a month after leaving you'll receive a letter with a half price offer.

Always happened to us when we changed names every year.

I thought Sky sign ups were based on address rather than name.

It used to be you could not sign up again for SKY within 6 months after cancelling regardless of the name you use.
Not sure if that is still the case so if you're considering cancelling then signing up again it may be worth checking.

Or, if you could live without HD, you could get a moody box and a 12 month sub for the price of maybe 2 months sky tv.
Personally the only difference i see between HD and SD is HD looks brighter.
That could just be me and i could have shit eyesight though  ;D

I ended up just renewing, 3 boxes, £56 a month for everything for 12 months instead of the £110ish I was paying.

You can transfer your shows to another HDD using certain software, but there is no way to extract the shows to your computer and watch them there, due to DRM.
Does anyone know of a way to remove the DRM tags from programs downloaded from BBC iPlayer....for free of course...

Having a go at getting it cheaper myself, currently paying £99.50 for the full Sky+ HD package with Sports and Movies, as well as line rental and broadband.

Just cancelled it with them and they offered to drop it to £85 a month for the next 10 months, but going to roll the dice and continue with the cancellation and see what they offer.

Got until Aug 11th now...!

That after getting discounts off them or just what it comes to?

Wouldn't mind but the broadband is a shitty connection too as it's crap where I am.

Ta, will see what they offer.

I had same as you.  Best i was getting was 25% off for 6 months.  So I've had to go via a 3rd party seller and got a 50% discount on the lot (as a new customer), so paying approx £50 for 12 months.

When I called Sky to query my broadband they said had I called retentions dept. they would have matched the 50% discount.  So my advise would be to call and ask to speak to the retentions department and tell them you can't afford the £99 and see what they offer.

They're hit and miss. In the past I've had 50% off offers at the first point of contact, last time I had cancelled it completely for a few months before they came back with anything.

Try a 3rd party provider.  Not sure if they're any based in Liverpool or thereabouts but in London they also have access to these "discount" codes.

As I mentioned earlier, I had to go down this route and managed to get a decent deal, all be it as a "new customer" so had to get a new box, viewing card, etc.  Bit of a hassles as you lose all your recordings from the old sky box but beats having to fork out £70 plus depending on your package.

Sky goes off in a few days and no contact, so decided to look what offers were around for new customers and found a 12 month 50% off voucher.

Managed to get all channels inc. Sports & Movies and HD package, line rental and unlimited fibre for £64 a month.

I was paying just over £100 for all that and with shitty broadband not fibre so I'm happy with that.

I've got a relatively old Sky HD box. No recording functions. All I want to use it for is freeview channels, but when I connect it up to the dish, I get a no satellite signal being received message. Any ideas? Surely I don't need sky to be sending a signal as I don't want their services?

Just been on the phone to sky and spoke to their cancellations department telling them I was gonna leave to go to virgin. They've knocked £20 off my tv subscription (£75 down to £55) and have offered to add sky broadband (inc. line rental) and bt sports for an extra £30.

I need to see if i can get out of my BT broadband contract. But if I can, I will be able to knock my sky and BT bill down from £130 to £85 a month while keeping the same package.

I managed to get the full Sky HD package inc Sports (not BT Sport though), line rental, and Sky Fibre Unlimited for approx £66 a month. It took me cancelling and then going on a new deal to do so as they never came back with a decent offer though.

Thats a pretty good deal.

If I can my broadband switched back to sky I'll be happy. I went to BT to get the 'free' bt sports and have ended up paying them £55 a month ffs.

Can you still watch Skysports on a Laptop/Tablet? I seem to remember someone saying that silverlight software (I think was the name) stopped supporting the running of the channels on PC? I haven't tried it for ages, but I want to watch the match tomorrow night on the laptop. Any help would be great, thanks!

Other than the extra cost of the gear, it's no extra a month is it? In fact it's cheaper if you've multi room as don't need the extra fee for that each month.

I had a look at the cost with my current package and its like £33 extra a month. I have fibre optic internet, movies, sports and the original package.

Just checked, it looks like it's the same price if you have the full package (Family + HD + Sports + Movies). It's more for anything else as you're forced to have the Family bundle if you got for Sky Q.
