That's the scary part - I think he is that important.

Aren't there emergency loans you can do? If you are short on keepers?

We’ve done one.
Lonergan signed on a one year deal.

We've signed Lonergan on a one-year deal and I can't imagine we'll lose Adrian between now and when Alisson returns.

I saw that, but if it was long-term i.e. several months or most of the season then we may want to invest in someone more secure. Andy Lonergan should not be keeping goal for Liverpool in a Premier League or Champions League game IMO. And it's only another injury away from happening, given the situation with the back up goalkeepers.

Hopefully it's not a long-term injury. Maybe if it was we would have tried to secure someone of a higher standard on an emergency loan. :/

Perhaps someone who has played at a higher level more recently or at least played semi-regularly in a decent league. I am not sure who that person is but we were linked to both McCarthy and Reina in the close season. if Ali's injury is long term then I don't think they would want to run the risk of having to rely on Lonergan. But it's all speculation. Hopefully this is all a bit of crying over nothing. :/

The only keeper we could sign is one out of contract, not a lot of quality keepers are in that position for obvious reasons. Only option I have seen that would make any sense would be Vorm. And he isn't coming to be 2nd choice for a while before being third choice, he had that at the end of this time at Spurs.

I mean if I say I’ll be there in a few minutes it’s like 10-15 but if my fiancé’s says she’ll be ready in a few minutes that’s like 1-2 hours.

There's an international break early next month so I assume he'll probably be back after that.

1) Klopp talked about a COUPLE of weeks stating clearly it is a CALF injury and nothing more.
2) he then said that Alisson didn't have injuries in his career and should be fine after a "few" weeks.

I think we can all relax over the situation, he will be back in September very probably.

I still worry it was actually his achilles.  Probably been brought up before but it is eerily similar to the Kevin Durant injury.  People kept assuming it was just a calf and then he comes back and his achilles completely gives out.  I'm pretty pessimistic, but I don't like the vague response on time table for return.  It feels like they aren't sure on the exact nature of the injury.

My friend...you can worry as much as you want, you can think whatever you want...but the REALITY IS THAT it is ONLY A CALF PROBLEM...NOT the Achilles...full stop. Klopp talked about a couple of weeks and kind of RULED OUT the 6 weeks but then you can believe whatever you want.

Ali will be back in September.

Not ideal, but it is what it is.  If the boys play like we all know they can and take their chances in the next few games then it won’t become any sort of issue.

It’s an opportunity for Adrian to become a bit of cult hero too.

Everybody heals differently and that's why Klopp has said only a few weeks. He can't be exact because he doesn't know for sure. Don't want to have a go at Lallana but a calf strain for him might take the longest amount of time to heal in comparison to someone like Mane who hardly gets injured.

Kevin Durant is probably a perfect ectomorph prototype and Ali I guess would be the perfect mesomorph.

With this physiology difference in mind, I think reason why Achilles keeps coming up is just recency bias.

Why is it Kevin Durant being brought up in every conversation? Kevin Durant had a calf injury. His second injury had nothing to do with the first, it was an Achilles injury on top of that he was being rushed back to return.

They are exactly sure of the nature of the injury but Klopp doesn't want to say a certain amount of time as the player could heal quicker than usual hence why he said ''Ali hasn't had been injured many times in the past, so we'll see in a couple of weeks how he feels''

Agree with this. Klopp is the perfect xenomorph prototype too, so best not disagree with him.

It’s an opportunity for Adrian to become a bit of cult hero too.

Important and subtle point, Divock will likely be getting too much playing time to be a true cult hero.

Needs replacing by Adrian keeping six clean sheets, stopping a penalty, and laying waste in his six-yard box by felling four attackers coming off his line to punch clear...

Which again doesn't have anything to do with the Durant scenario. Durant was injured whilst being rushed back to play. Alisson wasn't.

Think the quarterback guy playing netball did his calf muscle, and as he catches balls as Alisson does there is a comparison.

From Maddock in the mirror

Quote
Initial medical assessment on Alisson injury is a calf tear, to be confirmed by scan today. That's v. good news, as rules out Achilles rupture. Grade of tear to be judged by scan, but medic's first judgement was grade 2 - so absence of 3-6 weeks (average of a month). #LFC

Klopp says ‘weeks’. That’s consistent with a grade 2 tear, usual range from 3-6 weeks (8 in extreme) usually 4 weeks...

Quite encouraged by Klopp's readout.

He said it's a few weeks and the calf, rather than the Achilles.

The good news is we don't play either of Spurs or City until October, at which point hopefully Alisson will be back even if it's towards the 8 weeks he'll need to recover. We do have Chelsea away and Arsenal at home, but hopefully we'll have enough to navigate both of those, and the other fixtures. It also helps that we have the best back four in the league.
