They even moved the athletics track to the other side of the stadium. That's German planning for you.

The athletics stadium was actually Dortmunds old stadium until the Westfalen Stadium was built for the 1974 World Cup.
It’s now used for the reserve team.

Ray's right. I happened to be in Dortmund when they were remodelling the stadium. We couldn't take the tour because of all the scaffolding and machinery etc. But I was fortunate to be there when they were lifting the athletics track over the stadium to place it on the western side. They did it in one single piece. Unbelievable German engineering. Someone told us later that they lost  the discus net which fell into the penalty area. Other than, compete success. And all done within 8 hours.

So what we are saying is if we move Stanley Park and the Arkles pub to the other side of the stadium we should be able to fill in the corners?

Could we not just put the whole stadium on to some sort of rotating plate, like a lazy susan (showing my age there probably), which would mean we could move it to get the correct amount of sunshine on to the grass at the exact position required every day?

Think of the money it would save on those expensive lights that are put on the pitch at the moment.

Sure I read somewhere that the new AR upper has been designed to join the upper Kenny should they decide to expand that stand in the future! Does this sound feasible or is it bullshit ?

You're right the athletics track is still in the same place relative to the stadium.

So I guess they must have rotated the entire plot of land, stadium included. A hugely impressive piece of work.

We need to get them in to do Anfield - boom! Expanded Kop ahoy!

It’s bullshit.

There’s a massive roof integrated roof support at end of the new extension that would have to be demolished and the roof would have to be completely redesigned or replaced. The levels of the new Anny Road Upper Tier and Upper Kenny (existing or updated)  don’t line through.

Actually the last bit about lining through doesn't really matter. The corners can line through with one stand or the other or neither. It's probably true that in most redeveloped stadia, it's neither. Reason being sightlines to the corner flag at the opposite end on the same side (mostly means lifting the corners but not too much or the sightlines to the nearest corner flag would be affected as well - see Dortmund, again)

There's the back 3/4 rows of the lower tier that are still boarded off including the new disabled platform, and the section next to the Main Stand which is still just a hole.

And the fan zone thing.

Yes, almost guaranteed with that number. A lot of people who were also successful won’t go now with it being moved to midweek too.

I had a look on Sunday at the Forever Stones to see if I could find the one I've ordered... Needle in a haystack springs to mind. I don't suppose there is anyway of finding where it's located until I get the official email from the club?

If it's like the first set behind the main stand, no.

I had a email from the club telling me roughly where my dad's stone was in relation to the bench in that "section"

Yeah, we have one on the main too. Obviously a bit different to last time with it not being complete and official "open". I saw a few looking at their stones and wondered if they'd found out or if they'd just been lucky to spot them. I could have been there for hours and not spotted it.

From a practical point of view it would be difficult to pinpoint exactly where any particular stone is laid unless you had one person laying them and someone else standing by marking where each one is located. They should probably know which batch of stones it was in and the general location.

Each one has an assigned number doesn’t it? I assumed they lay them in order and then the club can just provide a map to the buyer, ‘stone 0123456 is in location c’ etc.

I would have thought there’d have been some sort of map to work against as they’re all different sizes.

Having watched some of the build footage though I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve all just been squashed in anywhere there was space.

In the main stand they're assigned to a bench, ours is next to Paisley, they have central commemorative stones on Anfield road, so they'll be able to tell us which area it will be in. There will still be an element of searching for it in that specific area though.

When we had ours done for the main stand we were told which bench section it was in but no more than that - we had to look for it ourselves in the relevant part.

We got an email in December to update us on this,

“Once the project completes next year, the final mapping of the Forever Stones will be able to take place and emailed to you in order to provide you with the exact location of your Anfield Forever Stone.”

Prior to Sundays game, I thought I’d have a quick look myself but it was impossible…spent about half an hour and then just gave up.

Some of the stones are in bad condition with the wording on some unclear. Hopefully they’ll sort this out

Me too, I think perhaps you'd have to be lucky to spot yours. Others seemed to know where's theirs were, but they may have just struck lucky. One of the updates from the club was that they may show signs of imperfections that will be sorted before it's officially opened.
