Fucking crap, couldn't string a pass together, stupid decisions made throughout the game. Shouldn't be relying on generous VAR calls to beat the relegation dross.

I will take that after such a shitshow. Firmino is probably a great guy to have around but he shouldnt be anywhere the starting eleven.

I guess no guarantee that we score after the fictitious penalty so maybe it ends 1-1 instead.

But that was an absolute gift for their second.  Will those two points cost us next May 2023?

Fulham fully deserved to win that, despite the gifts from the officials.

Not really good enough today. I thought we would go on to win after our first. I watched the penalty call several times and couldn’t see any real foul…..but there wasn’t anything to overturn it. Referee gave them everything they claimed for.

We weren’t strong enough and we need to waken up.

Shit first half for us.

Much better second half.

Could easily have won 5-2 (even with the dodgy penalty).

Mitrovic has a good dive on him, which is a shame because he's actually a very good player without it.

A point that looked unlikely for most of the game really, so certainly better than starting with a defeat!

Too many telegraphed passes, too much head tennis, too many silly fouls.  Not a great day at the office topped off with another injury.

Maybe I've got rose tinted memories but I'm sure we usually deal with direct football better than that.  Heading it back into the crowd for ensuing scrambles doesn't benefit us as at all.

Nunez getting his first league goal and Elliott were the two main positives.

Cheers ref

Bobby Madley’s been a bit meh, but we only have ourselves to blame. Virgil got done by Mitrovic, even he would admit he let him get past on that occasion.

Think overall it played out the same way when we played Brentford last season. We brought the walking boots while Fulham brought the runners. I think it’s a byproduct of our tough preseason regimen more than anything, we play like this in the beginning of every season. Sometimes we get away with it, sometimes not.

Fulham deserve credit for their play for sure.

Yes!  That's the phrase I've been looking for.  Because, we won about 25% of those volleys if that.

Game changed positively when Milner came on. Which says a lot for the rest of them. Harvey looked sharp and I think the Trent/Harvey/Salah down the right is where we will look to cut through opposition lines. Trent and Virgil had their worst games for a while. But if Klopp is saying our team isn’t match fit yet then i think he knew this level was coming

Positives from that - A point (debatable whether deserved or not), Nunez (needs to start) and Elliott.

Can't think of any others to be fair. We need a huge improvement ASAP.

Edit: that young sub Milner looks quite promising too.

It took 65 mins before the players started playing. I thought missing the title by a point would fuel our drive like it did in the title winning season but looks like I was wrong.

For a world class player he does throw in too many stinkers. Add to that Thiago is injury prone and Henderson is no longer good enough. Results like today could become a common theme unless someone like Keita or Elliott steps up.

Not sure how you've joined those dots.

First game of the season is always poorly representative of our level. There's a lot of fitness and tactical work to be done, and it'll take a few games before the team is in rhythm. Having some of the lads back from injury will help lift the level collectively as well. Things will improve, but we need to work hard on how we shift the ball around and how we build and sustain pressure against teams like Fulham.

We wasted most of the 5 minutes extra time by not keeping the ball on the deck and gifting them cheap fouls , we need more composure in the midfield area - hats off to Milner , he really gave it a go when he came on.

Does he?

He was poor today, most of the team were. Along with Virgil, he's probably been our most consistent performer under Klopp. He finished last season with an injury too, don't forget.
